GameWright Games Review and Giveaway
There are two things I think every family must to
together and make time for no matter how busy your life
is. Progress has led to filled schedules and less time together
as a family and last time I took a look around what I have
seen is children who are completely disrespectful of adults,
other children and each other. No longer are they forced to
complete tasks that help them develop their own character
such as writing out Thank You cards or completing their
chore's without a cash reward. If you ask your teenager to watch
your baby while you go out they will automatically think they
are getting paid for watching their own brother or sister. They
sit in their video world and immerse themselves so completely
they lose touch and the ability to relate with peers their own
age. I know we as parents didn't mean for this to happen but
happen non the less it did. I don't have a cure and all I can do
is stick with the two things I have been doing and hope they
bring some of what they have learned from it to the next
generation. The two things I believe we can not let fall to
the wayside are;
1. Family outdoor time together.Okay, I know this is a tall order.
It is super hard to get everyone on the same page to do this but
people need to find a way. It is very easy to fall into the trap of
telling your kids they need to spend more time outdoors from
the comfort of your own couch but when is the last time you
rode a bike or hiked though a state park? Try for one day a month
and pick something everyone in the family can participate in.
It doesn't have to be Johny's favorite sport that Cindy hates,
and even if it is, alternate. One month Johny's, the next little
Cindy. The point is to get out and get active. We walk the dog
as a family at least once a week but also make time for
biking and fishing and many other outdoor activity's. Even my
son's Dad who is not an outdoor person found something
to do with my son they can both enjoy. Every other month or
so they make time to go to the Skeet Shooting range to work
on their skills. Andrew and I do biking together and swimming
and though Rowan has a while to ride she can still come with
us and the Pool is bound to be a source of entertainment for her
this summer. Get out, get active as a Family.
2. The other thing we do to keep our little unit close nit is
to have Family Game night. I have been doing a lot of reviews
for games lately for I firmly believe there is no better way
to stay in touch with your kids then to get together and have
some fun. On game night everyone is relaxed and enjoying
them selves. Your kids are only to happy to share what is
going on in their lives in between fits of giggles. Sometimes
they even offer up information without you having to pry it
out of them. There is no better way to enjoy each others company
and get in touch with your own inner child while you are
at it.
There should only be a couple of rules at game night,
well, other then the game rules and those are always changing
at my house. The first thing should be that everyone is polite
and treats the rest of the family members with respect. The
Second is to remember family game night is not a platform
to bring up other issues you have with each other. Just because
you at long last have a captive audience does not mean you
should take advantage of it and grill your children on their
grades, friends or chores. Game night needs to be kept light
hearted and entertaining or you will find it harder and harder to
get your kids together for it and soon their list of reasons not
to attend will be longer then yours on reasons why you don't
clean out your bedroom closet. The only other rules is to have
some great games to play.
The next game I got a chance to review is one that is
a whole blast for the family to play! You don't have to be
Jeopardy smart and just about any age can play though
the box says ages 6 and up. I think any child that can sit
still long enough to play a game and has the least bit of a
inkling of coordination would be in stitches playing this
game. It is fast paced and doesn't have a ton of rules to
slow you down, just lots of fun and entertainment and
Flamingo Flipping. The point of the game is to get the
Flamingos onto the pegs and not into the Alligators
mouth. To do this you flip them from a launcher a little
bit away from the 3 dimensional game board and it kind
of reminds me of a Midway Carnival game where skill
is king and the player with the best aim gets the gold. The
more intense the game play gets the harder it gets
to aim those pink little birdies! When everyone is
all excited and shooting all at the same time
the birdies really fly! This game has won numerous
well deserved awards and is great for helping your little
one develop their hand eye coordination. It is for 2 to 4
players and the games are fast at 10 minutes a pop
and leaves you with lots of time for re-match! I only
wish it were the kids that were screaming that and not
me! I gotta say I love the whole things from the life boat
launching pads to the life savors to fling on the cute little
birdies and even the angry Gators waiting patiently for
their lunch. It is a great choice for family game night
and is sure to be requested by kids off all ages one they
have played the first time. It has a spot on our Keeper, top
choice shelf and I can't wait to Rowan is old enough to
join us in the game play! Big old huge two thumbs up
here but only for a second I need to keep those thumbs
safe for my rematch. The Boy is going down!

I loved their website...so attractive and easy to navigate. I especially like how their games and puzzles are grouped under the ages appropriate for that game. That is a great help to those who buy them. The games have "fun" names but without the age guidelines it would be hard to know which games to choose.
