Chips, Fruit, Ice Cream, Sweets, Pizza with Pop? What
is the snack at your house? Everyone starts off demanding
perfection in their child's diets. I have never met a parent
that didn't fall short at least once. With the insanity of today's
rush, rush, busy busy, how fast can I go before I drop dead of
exhaustion world sometimes you have no choice but to
take a short cut or two. If you are one of the few who manage
to hang tight there also comes a point in time when your little
bundle is old enough to buy what they want to eat all on their
own. Have you been to a High School Cafeteria lately? I don't know
about your child's but the Cafeteria at my child's school puts
most mall food courts to shame. Sure, they have a bowl of fruit
somewhere but are Kids is going to pick that over the Pizza Bar,
the Taco Stand or the Burger Barn? My son could never pass
up a chance for free reign on at the Burger Barn no matter
how many fruit and vegetables I keep in the house.
So what are you supposed to do then? Moderate!
Teach your kids from a young age that you can enjoy all types of
foods as long as you only have a little bit of everything. Instead of
holding back on one particular thing make a compromise. Let
then have that pizza but order it on a whole grain crust or with
just veggies. Instead of only allowing fruits and having them sneak
candy cut up apples and offer a low fat caramel dip. For years
I used Sweet in Low in my Coffee thinking I was saving myself
calories but what I was really doing was depriving myself of
one of the few places I got sugar in my diet and since I lived on
a "diet", what would happen is I would go so long then not be able
to take it anymore and cave and eat more sugary foods in one
sitting then I had all month before. I found out that a level
teaspoon of Sugar has only 16 calories and figured what they
hey and now I don't suffer those craving sessions where I eat
the whole candy isle. I learned to moderate. A lot of people
I know have the same problem with Potato Chips or Doritos!
If you are one of those this next item I got a chance to review
is something you need to look into!
Funky Monkey Snacks has all the wholesome goodness of
fruit with the crunch of a chip. It is a fantastic blending of the
best of both and since they are made of fruit they even offer
3 servings of fruit the FDA recommends in every serving. I just
think they taste good. I was send a mixed case of their variety's
and being a fan of fresh fruits I must admit I was a little bit
skeptical. I am one of the people that can pass on the chip
in favor of fresh veggies or fruit and have no problem saying no
to cake but Hot Fudge, chocolate or a greasy pizza, now we have
a problem. Part of the reason I love pizza is the crunch of the
crust and Funky Monkey gave me the crunch and I felt like I was
eating fresh fruit. halfway through the first bag I was sold. Even
Andy, who really wanted Fruit Roll Ups for a while and I was
happy to oblige him until I realized he was only asking for
them to put a tattoo on his tongue and then tossing out the fruit
part loved this. No Tattoos here so I know he wasn't eating them
for that reason. I would have to go with taste! My Favorite was
the Pineapple with Lime for that is just what it tasted like.
I felt like someone took a pineapple, a splash of lime and
Made a Crunchers Potato Chip out of it and it was sweet and
tangy! I was thinking Pineapple Margaretta with a crunch through
the whole bag! A hot summer night by the pool without the
hangover.YUM! Andy loved the Carnival but I don't remember any
Carnival food we have had ever had tasting this good! Every last
bite was yum! I thought we would try them and then put them
away for a day everyone wanted a snack and I was too lazy to
go to the store but the whole case is gone and we are wanting
more. Um, Funky Monkey people, I am not really sure I like the
Jivealime ones yet, can you send a few more cases so I can
