Because I Said So!!! Mom Knows Best!

Now I have been learning a lot about cosmetics
in the last year or so and I must say it is about
time I did. Before I was never terrible with my
choices but I would have to say I was more of a safe
side of the road type gal. I did not experiment, I
did not mix it up and I stuck to brands that were
tried and true and felt that was the way to go. What
I didn't get was my tried and true brands know they
are tried and true and all take the approach, "if
it ain't broke don't fix it!" and I was stuck in a
rutty right along with them. When I started finding
facts out like with Mineral make-up your face is
not coated so there would no longer be a need for
the 32 zillion cleansers I used to combat the effect
of what my make-up did to my skin. Mineral make up is
all around lighter and unlike the heavy cream and liquid
foundations I wore I would not feel it on my face.
My skin would also now be able to breath and is all
around more healthy. My old tried and true do not offer
a mineral make-up at this time and one of the things
about large company's that have been around forever is
it takes them forever to change anything so I don't
see them coming out with a Mineral product line in
the near future. So to enjoy the Benefits of Mineral
Make-up I had to leave my safety zone and take the plunge
into the unknown. I am so glad I did but stepping into
the world of Mineral make-ups and advancements in the
cosmetology world come with their own set of trials and
tribulations. What brand do I use?

Have you ever googled Mineral makeup? Try it. Somewhere
on page 40 something I gave up reading. That's the thing when
a new product comes out and is sensational. Every single person
with a mind on marketing and a dream tries to improve and
perfect it and promote their own brand. Reading between the
lines of fact and fiction is a tough job for a lot of those
people saw short cuts and took them or ran out of money while
developing them and put out a sub-perfect product or are just
cheap to begin with and out to make some money on the giant
wave the new product has created. Then you find you companies
that honestly bring you a better product, want to see you wearing
nothing but the best and will not stop until they achieve it.
They love what they do and it reflects in their product and
they truly believe that they have found a better way to bring
you a product and are always working to make sure they are
at the top of the industry without short cuts or side stepping
the customer. To find those company's you really have to search
but when you do find one you can bank on them to bring you the
full package. Great costumer service, an excellent quality product,
reasonable prices and a large selection of products to choose from.
Recently I got the chance to do a review for one such company.
Ferro Cosmetics. They are the complete package. I spoke with
the owner herself and found her to be the most down to Earth,
Charming person who was eager to help and you can tell she
takes pride in what she does and keeps in the mix to make
sure the people she surrounds herself with do too. I was
sent a sampling of their products and the total experience was
fantastic and I know I will be back for more!
I pretty much turned myself over to her and just gave
them some basic information on myself such as hair and eye
color and skin tone and told them they were the experts and
hey, they are, I wore blue eye shadow in the 90's remember?
The items I received were perfect for my skin tone and Ferro
Cosmetics managed to match shade after shade and after I
used everything in their bag of tricks I somehow felt glamorous
yet natural all at the same time. I never even knew that was
possible. They started with the Foundation and I was given the
Ultimate Foundation in palest honey. Ultimate it is! I have to
say of all the make-up and cosmetic products that are available
for you foundation in general has always given me the most
problems, I can never seem to find a shade that goes with
mine for I have that Ivory Skin yet I spend a lot of time out
doors and though I do not really hold a tan I do manage to
come out of it with some color and it throws my skin tone
off. I also can never get the coverage I need with a powder
and with a liquid or cream I always have that line at the
chin no matter how careful I am. Let's not even talk about
rub off! Eww and how dang embarrassing when either you
are wearing white or someone you hug is! The palest honey
was THE Perfect shade for my skin for it added warmth and
glow and still did not look like I was wearing anything. The
Mineral Powder also covered like a dream and best of all no
rub off! Personally I didn't feel like I was wearing anything at
all for it was that light and so much better then the thick
pallet style foundation I had been wearing for the last few
years or so. I also had the same perfect experience with the
blush and eye shadow and with the mineral make I enjoyed
the fact there was no creasing for the eye shadows and the
blush blended in perfectly and did not leave that faint tell tale
sign that you have something on your cheeks to add color. It
smoothly transitions from the foundation right on over and I also
fell in love with the shades they sent for both. Most of the
Hues I was sent are earthy tones that have life in them and
not flat and dull. I almost felt glittery though I know that
was my own imagination for I just had that star quality when
everything was applied. Look out Hollywood, Mommywood is
on the carpet! Some of the shades they sent that I have now
discovered are not only perfect for my complexion, I just
don't think I could live without now are the:
Berrylicious
Golden Cinnamon
Mulberry
and my all time favorite Bashful. I never thought such a pink color
would go so well on me but I was totally sold when I saw it.
The Bashful is also one of their 3 in one products that are
the most fantastic product out there. You can use it for a
blush, eyeshadow and lip color and it works great as all three.
From now on you can get triple duty from your cosmetics as
apposed to having to buy a zillion different separate items.
Think how easy that will be to not only color coordinate but
shelf space alone. Everyone woman in the world has a purse that
weighs as much as a Mac Truck and a large part of that
is makeup. If I could do away with two thirds of what is in my
drawers and purses and cupboards I would jump at the chance.
I admit I was a little skeptical at first but once I tried, hey,
I am a jumping. Just pick about 6 shades and you can mix
them anyway you want and one day have one as your blush and
the next make it your eye shadow. The combinations are endless
and it will also leave more room in your purse for the money
you are saving not having to buy a separate product. For my
personal review I have to say I with hit with the arrow when I
tried the Foundation and fell in love when I moved onto the 3 in
one products!

Moving forward with a complete guide to everything
good about mineral make-up I found another keeper! Pur!
Pur Minerals is one of the best I have found so far. If you
were to ask me to sum these guys up in a couple of words
I would have to say Simple Elegance. From the moment I
went to the site I was relaxed for the very aura they portray
left me relaxed and knowing I was in some very good hands.
They were Fashion Magazines 2010 reader Favorite and
for a good reasons. They are all about Quality and more then

I was given a Pur Perfection kit for review and it
pretty much was just that! Perfection. What it included
was the 4 in 1 ( sold, hook line and sinker with this baby)
and a chisel brush, mineral glow and Universal marble
powder. I explained to them I was just learning about
Mineral Make-up and did not really know what I was doing
or what would work for me and was told not to worry, with
their products I could not mess up if I tried. Well, they didn't
know me for I am really good at messing up but I figured I would take them at face value and give it a shot. I could not believe how right they were and I was a skeptic. How could they cover ever ones needs when they only offered one shade of the 4 in 1 and only two shades of Primer? I am so used to the sites where you go through pages and
pages of products and end up guessing at the one you
need then are never happy with the results. This was one
page for their entire foundation line and the same went
for all the rest of their products. I could not understand
how that would be enough of a selection until I tried it and
it really worked fantastic! The Foundation brings out your
own skin tone and makes it even and healthy and gives
you that all over perfect feel. The Universal Marble added life
to your cheeks and the effect was a look of health, not paint
and I never felt more natural and fresh. To top everything
off was the Mineral Glow and that left me with a slight sun kissed
look without the worries and all of the glamor! The Chisel Brush
was perfect for application and I felt stunned and very very
impressed at the total package and could not believe I
didn't need a whole line of items to get this same look. I
was almost disgusted with the fact I normally have drawers
and bags and boxes of items to get the same look on a daily
basis from products that are not mineral makeup. These
guys are a keeper and the Pur Perfection Kit is the perfect
way to get started if you were a Mineral Make-up virgin like

to not look like a star every single day for with minutes to

There is so much hype about Mineral Makeup today.
For a novice like me it is enough to make my head spin.
Everyday more and more brands of Mineral Makeup are
popping up all over and I can't shake the feeling that I
keep missing the good ones because I am looking in
one direction when I should be checking out the goods
in another. Well, I got sick and tired of being on the other
side of educated when it came to mineral make-up and
decided it is time to learn the ins and outs so the next
time someone starts raving about how good this brand
is I can laugh and smile and let them know I already knew
that, I found out months ago.

The first thing I did was compile myself a big long
list. Then I started checking out the names on it a little closer
and crossing off the ones I had heard horror tales about,
checking off the ones that made me laugh out loud when I
saw their prices, ( No way am I paying 40 bucks for a blush)
and last of all the ones that had a poorly designed web site
for I feel if they have a poorly developed web site and don't
pay attention to details that make it easier for their consumer
base to navigate, what other areas of their organization are
they neglecting? I also want to be able to contact them if I
need to and not hire a Private Detective to locate their contact
information. Unfortunately there is no way to predict quality unless
you stumble across an independent review, have your own
personal stylist who's job is to be "in the know" when it comes
to all that is good and great in the cosmetics world or have
someone like me. A person who is willing to do whatever it
takes to bring you the true details of a product at least until
I review something for you guys that leaves me looking like
Mimi from Drew Carey and unable to remove. If that happens
I retire guys! When I was done whittling down my list I was
left with less then a dozen places and knew the only way to
get to the heart of the matter from now on was to try them
myself.

I brought you guys a few other companies that produce
make-up but they do not focus on Mineral Make-up and I feel
very strong that to be the best at something you need to
devote yourself entirely to it. A company that really stood out for
me was Everyday Minerals. I contacted them to see what I
could find out for you guys and they rang my favorite bell and
had me sold before I even saw a thing. You guys know what bell
I am talking about now, the Great Customer Service one! The
person I was in contact with didn't know me from Adam and
right away made me feel at home. She went out of her way to
explain items to me in detail after I let her know that I was a
novice in Mineral Make-Up and was pretty insecure about make-
up in general. I explained I had only worn two brands for most
of my life and the only thing new and exciting I knew about the
Make-Up world was what they wanted me to know. She was
great about recommendations and put together a kit for me that
was perfect for a person who was starting from scratch and
not so detailed and complected it overwhelmed me. What came
was the perfect starter set pieced together from the
information I gave her about my skin tone and preferences.
It included:
2 shimmer eyes in All Spice and Juniper
Matte eyes in Nutmeg
Pearl eyes in Cardamom
Blush in Wild Vines
Finishing Dust
And a Lip Balm in Rose Cardamom Orange
Also a really great quality brush for Application
I was dieing to try Everyday Minerals so I had to rush right
into the bathroom and apply. I dumped a little bit of the
shadow out on the counter for I needed to get a better look
at this "Mineral Makeup" craze up close. It looked like powder
and I couldn't help but to wonder how this stuff stuck to your
skin. It seems to me it would just sort of fall of for unlike
regular make-up there really isn't some sort of base that
holds it all together and keeps it on your skin. The powder
seemed so rich and vibrant I also could not fathom how it
would maintain that hue on your eyes. To achieve a rich
coloring with regular make-up you have to apply in layers
for only a thin coat stays on each time and the reason your
normal eye shadow looks so intense in the pallet is there is
a lot of it there and nothing in the pallet to see it in contrast
too. This shadow looked vulnerable to me for it would have to
stand alone and I was unsure if even layering it would work
for I thought the powder would be to light with the first
application for subsequent ones to make little if any difference.
I was wrong.
It clung to the brush like a magnet but only the tips. I know all of
my blush brushes I have are bent at an awful angle from the
pressure I use to apply it and for the most part ruined in an
attempt to get compact style blush to be as deep and colorful
on your face as it is in the compact. The Mineral Make-up not
only stuck it was as deep and vibrant on my eyes as it was in
the pallet for I had not taken into consideration the fact that
in the little tub the Mineral Make-up comes in, every single
little speck of it is the color not just a part of the color like
in a pallet. This stuff was totally awesome and that old saying
a little dab will do you hits home every way possible here. It
was rich and Lovely and best of all I didn't even feel like I
had it on. The lightness of it made me feel like I could reach
up and touch my skin and it would feel like skin and not
skin covered in a paste of lacquer. The blush went on with
the same ease and the same results and the finishing dust
did just that, pulled the whole look together and left my skin
tone, even and polished and I still could not feel a thing!
I felt radiant and best of all pretty.

own personal collection it allows you to try items you
would not have bought before to see if they look good
on you without feeling the pinch in your pocket book.
Last of all there is so much good buzz about this
product they have a fan club you can join. After trying
them I can see why and as soon as I finish talking
