Belle Baby Carrier Review and Giveaway!

AH, Spring is in the air and it is time
to fling open the windows and let in the Sunshine.
Let the dog out for hours and worry about the muddy
paw prints another day. Get those snow suits and toss
them in a Cedar box and break out the Spring jackets
and suit up the family. It is time for a walk! Get up
and move people! Rowan has already been out of the
house every day this week. John came back late Sunday
night and has given me a much needed break. Other then
a stray weekend here and there since Thanksgiving I have
pretty much been a single Parent this entire Winter. When
Rowan was teething I didn't think I was going to make it
and thank the stars that slowed a bit. Four in a week was
terminal on my back. Now she has two on the way but
it is not nearly as bad, though still a lot of fussy crabby
yuck yuck going on. Add in my Mothers Heart issues and
I thought once again I was going to crash so that I almost
sang like Mary Poppins when John walked in the house.
The last couple of days I had some issues to catch up
on at home but now I am ready to catch up the site and
that is long overdue. I must admit I want to be outside
with them for John and Rowan are going out about 4 times
a day with the dog right now and here I am stuck in the house
but in another of couple of weeks I will grab the laptop and
hit the patio. I did however get a chance to do this next review
and for that I had to go outside! Gosh, sometimes it sucks to
work other times I am truly blessed for I get to smell the
fresh air.
The Belle Baby Carrier had made my day by letting me
hit the pavement! Thanks Belle, before I even get to the
nuts and bolts of the review I am already grateful. I was
sent a carrier in black and let me first tell you about the
design. I wasn't sure I would be able to do the review for
a little while for Rowan's teeth caused me a lot of pain and
it was pain I had no choice but to endure. You just don't
tell a toddler, sorry, no comfort today for it really aggravates
your Mothers Rheumatoid Arthritis in her spine. The fact my
Neck and Shoulders are all jacked up when I fell last fall
made it even more difficult. I have been trying to mend the
last couple of weeks and have been postponing due to that
fact but when I felt that warm air I pretty much said dang
the consequences and lets do this thing. I tossed on the
Belle and was already prepared for the wave of pain in
simply putting it on but I didn't feel a thing. Lucky me!
Now for sure I expected to feel it when I added Rowan
for she has grown like a weed this Winter and I am sure
she is topping the scales close to 20 pounds right now.
Here came the Belle Design to the rescue. Belle is made
for comfort and they did away with the extra bulk and
brought you a stream lined design that includes cross-over
straps with high-end closed cell foam for comfort. The
reason they can due away with all the extra padding and
supports is they use the same materials found in those
super heavy High End Mountaineering Backpacks that are
made for a big load. A baby is a piece of cake in comparison
and this makes it more comfortable for you all around.
An independent waist belt brings the weight down to your hips
and off your shoulders so your back is spared as well.
With the Steel Rings you and your child are supper secure and
all in a lightweight, simple design that makes it a snap to
use. Baby can face in or out and Rowan, adventurous spirit that
she is wants to see the world. Your baby is in a natural ergo-
nomic position that protects their spine and leaves them comfy
and able to enjoy the ride. They also offer a removable head
support panel that is perfect for your sleeping baby.
John took Rowan out earlier in the day and he is a
totally different size then me and I hate changing the size
of gadgets and gizmo's and thought it would be a huge pain
and I was delighted at how simple it is to adjust. Rowan had
no problem snuggling in and we were soon on our way and
loving it.
"Ohhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" MAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
That must have been a car rumbling down in front of us!"
"MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! WAhhhhhhhhh!"
Lucky me, I got to see a firetruck!
The Belle Carrier made it simple for me to enjoy the
experience with her and the cross back design and that
belt made it even more so for me since I didn't feel her
weight at all, even with the constant bouncing a jiggling she
was doing as she narrated the trip. I fully expected to let John
be the one using the carriers this Summer for as
lovely as it is to be able to have your child so close
and I totally agree with Baby wearing and the bonding it
affords a parent with their child I didn't think my back would
make the trip. I figured I would be the one who would be
stuck with the stroller and have to push her everywhere and
also not be able to take the Dog. Have you ever tried to
push a stroller and keep a 12 pound bundle of energy who
acts like she has been stored in a metal cage the entire
Winter every single time you open the door to the outside
world? It isn't fun and next to imposable but I believed I
was doomed to leave her at home. What a delightful surprise
to be able to leave the house with the Belle and leave the
old ball and chain at home, well one of them, the Dog I
had to bring with me! I walked for about 30 minutes and
that was just long enough to wear out both of the little
ones, furry and funny and bring them both home for a nap.
I thought I was going to be just as beat as they were but
I still felt like I could go another 30 and did not feel the
impact of the carrier at all. Their design works like a charm
and that isn't a normal back speaking, that is a down right
cranky one that normally protests acts as simple as picking
up a tennis shoe! Way to go Belle!
All of Belle's products are made right here in the good
old U S of A and in Colorado to boot. Remember when I
said they were created with durable, tough, equipment that
helps keep Mountain Climbers and Hikers wearing their gear
in comfort all day long? I can't think of a more suitable
place to manufacture items that you know are not only going
to work they are made to last then in Colorado. Home of
the Mountains! Smartly made and tough as can be your Belle
is going to last way longer then even the most active child's
energy level! Belle offers a large selection of styles so
you can look as fashionable as a runway model and don't
forget they also have some pretty dandy choices in the
way of Organics as well! You can find their items on line
or at a large selection of retail stores and Belle also
has an extremely informative web site with a great section
on the benefits of Baby Wearing and user support as
well as a blog and anything else you could need. Connect
to other Baby Wearers and share some war stories or
just keep up to date with currant events. Belle made my
first day of Spring one I will remember and Rowan already
wants to do again, or as she would say,
"WahhhhhhhhhhhhEhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ohhhhhhhhhh!"
Enjoy a Belle Carrier and some fresh air yourself with
a chance to win a Carrier of your own. Belle is giving
one of my lucky readers a chance to win one and to enter
just head over to their site and take a look around then come

Your Safe Child.com Review and Giveaway!

I have spent a lot of time going over
safety items in the last few months. I have
covered ways to keep track of your children.
A way to Tattoo your phone number right on
them should they get lost at an age too young to
be able to remember it. I have even covered a couple
a First Aid Kits and bandages in case they fall or
get an ouchie you need to make "all gone!". The
guide itself covers all the information you need to make
your home safe and your entire family protected but
what I neglected is to mention is what you need if everything
else fails. Now this is not something I would wish
on my worst enemy but it is a crazy world and you
need to be prepared for everything. Even if your child
is only in the next back yard like mine was it is
still better to be on top of the situation instead of
having the worst case scenario happen and you
not be the slightest bit prepared.
Nobody wants to think of bad things happening.
Nobody wants to imagine their child missing or even
the need for an Identification kit. In fact most people
would not have the slightest idea how to go about putting
one together for it is always the one thing we push out
of our mind and when you do not put any thought into
something like that you end up totally unprepared and
lost yourself. I wanted to make sure I had all of Rowans
information in one place for many reasons. Not just in
case of an emergency but for a baby sitter, or even
if something happened to John and I, how would John's Brother
get a hold of all the information he needs, or my
Mother? Just like a will it is important to organize
your child's identification in the most organized ways
possible. Complete details and copy's as well. If the
emergency is a house fire like I went through and
you only have one set of papers you could end up
in a pickle. Most people have lost all of their personal
identification at least once in their life. If it was lost
or stolen or destroyed at one point we all have had
to start at square one and replace it and we all know
what a pain in the butt that is. Now we are adults and
can clearly announce our thoughts and recite our information.
A child can't and depends on you to keep track of all
of those facts. So one more time I am going to
stress its importance.

Now that that has been settled how do you go about
gathering all of it? I know after Andrew wandered into
our neighbors yard the importance of it struck me then
and I sat down and made sure I had everything in
case he was misplaced again and not just on the
other side of a privacy fence. I sat there and stared
at a blank notebook for an hour before I admitted
to myself I had no clue where to begin. Now I had
ran a home daycare for a few years when Andrew
was a toddler so I dug out one of the emergency
cards from there and put together my own makeshift
kit. Back then we didn't have the resources we have
now. Mine turned out okay but it would not have
went so well had I not had the Emergency card to
get me started or taken all the classes I had when
I went to get my state license. With all the training
and foresight I had I was still on the side of lost
if I had not had that I would have felt like I was hiking
out of the middle of the Amazon with only a penlight
and a Snickers bar. Today you can get everything
you need on-line or even at some retail stores
and I have to tell you it is a must have item
where ever you choose to get it. I got mine at
Your Safe Child.com and I gotta say they had
every single thing you would ever need and hope
you never have to use. I was sent a Safe Shoes
Child ID and a Child Print ID kit and together they
make for the perfect contingent for any situation.
The Safe Shoes Child ID kit has
information your child would need to give to an
authority figure should they ever get lost or can't
find your or another family member or whomever
is in charge of the group they are with. It keeps
that information safe inside their shoe with a thin,
lightweight self laminating label that stays put and
is concealed inside the shoe where research has
proved is an item of clothing most would be abductors
either never remove at all or seldom inspect if they
do. It has room for 5 phone numbers and 3 names
so no matter what the situation your child only need
alert an authority figure and they will be able to get
in contact with somebody in your family. The only
thing that is lacking is your child's name for safety
purposes. They are inexpensive and can be bought
in large qualities so every shoe your child owns can
have these inside for an easy piece of mind. The
other item I was sent is not a luxury item to afford
you a piece of mind but a must have item that you
should have for every single child in your house.
The Child print ID Kit is the mother load so to speak
and keeps all of your child's important information in
one pack that is not only easy to store it is easy to
take with you and can be copied easily for passing
out should an emergency situation ever arise. It is
printed on a durable paper and also is encased in a
sleeve equally as durable and includes all your child's
personal information such as the basic goods like
name and age, address and phone, birth date and parents
information as well. This kit doesn't stop there though
and it also provides room for and the supplies needed
to include:
1. A chart to graph identifying marks
2. Room to include a description of glasses or braces
or prosthetic limbs or other medical issues.
3. A place to include a currant photo and the
date the photo was taken and the child's age in the
photo.
4. A fingerprint Card and the ink to fill it out.
5. A dental chart for you to fill to display cavity's,
missing teeth or in Rowans case the teeth she does
have and braces. It also has a dual layer to include
Baby Teeth and their Adult Teeth.
6. There is also a DNA bag for you to store 10 strands
of hair from your child's hair brush so you do not
have to go yanking it out of their head.
The kit comes complete with tips and other useful facts
and is just the "right" thing to have. Your Safe Child also
carries Child print ID cards and Tooth print Cards! With any
of the products on the site you can be assured you are securing
your child for any outcome that may arise, good or bad. As the
Boy Scouts always say, Be Prepared!

I also have a kit to give to one of my readers
that has the ID and the Safe Shoes. To enter just
head over to the site and take a look around and
then come back here and post what you have learned
in a comment. The contest will start tonight and run to

MyClyns Review and Giveaway!

If John had his way Rowan would be wrapped
in a giant bubble to protect her from the outside world.
John Travolta's Bubble Boy has nothing on Rowan for
he would not stop there and would add padding and
cushion and have a team of people like a NASCAR
pit crew running interference to swipe clean her path
as she makes her way across a room. When we first
brought her home I was never so embarrassed to watch
him sway her this way and that when an elderly lady
at the drug store tried to get a good look at Rowan, not
touch her, mind you, but look, and he did everything but
a Cartwheel to insure she could not get close enough
to do so.
"Germs Michelle, they are everywhere. Do you want
her to end up with the Swine Flu?"
" Well I would assume those people are home in bed
and I didn't say you have to let people touch her but
there is a polite way to keep her at a distance and a
rude way and you are pretty rude right now!"
" I am not!"
"Whatever!"
A couple of days later our neighbor who has been very
close to our whole family for years and pretty much
considers my family a part of hers and she also worships
the ground both of my children walk on caught John and
I on the way out the door.
"Is that the baby?"
I could see John visibly stiffen. I gave him a little shove
in her direction. "Yes, it is. We were just taking her for
a check up."
"Oh, the sweet thing. I won't waste your time but
I just wanted to take a peek at the little Angel."
John was already trying to worm his way off of the
porch and there was not a doubt in my mind he was
going to make a break for it and be extremely rude to
a Woman who has been nothing short of spectacular to
my family and Not only remembers my children on
every Holiday and Birthday was the first person on my
doorstep the day after we brought Rowan home with
a huge Piggy Bank she must have gotten at a boutique
somewhere filled a third of the way already with Quarters.
There must have been more then 100 dollars in there
already and she had instructions this was to be towards
her Collage fund! The Bank itself most have cost a
small fortune for I have never seen one so big and
detailed before. It was stunning. She has done just as
many spectacular things for Andrew, including gifting the
child a computer for his 13th Birthday and here John was
making a break for it and all she wanted was a look.
I stopped him and gave him a push in her direction again
and a little ( though hard) pinch to the arm so he
got the message. Later that day he freaked on me and
you would think this man who is only one step above
drinking out of a toilet bowl himself was a Howard Hughes
clone and ready to seal Rowan away in some sort of
Hermetically sealed room to she was 30 years old. I
even explained she "needs" to be exposed to some things
or she would never develop the immunities she needs later
in life. He has just about driven me to the point of
having him sealed in something though it is not
made to keep out germs but rather made of Pine if
he does not knock it off. When I got the chance to
do a review for MyClyns I hung up the phone to the
Funeral Home and decided to see what they had to
say.

MyClyns is made for people like John and is
a fantastic product to have even if you are "normal"
too! This looks like a pen and fits into your pocket
or purse as easy as one does too. MyClyns is
not a pen though and in fact is a personal spray that
is made to spray directly into your own face or mouth
and is effective in reducing your post-exposure to air
born and other pathogens and germs that can other
wise cause viruses or infections. Next time you or
your child is sitting in a crowded waiting room and draw
the short straw and get to enjoy the comfort of sitting
next to the sickest person in the room just pull out your
MyClyns and give yourself and your child a little spray-
down. It is safe to spray directly onto the face and even
onto open cuts and abrasions and is designed to be
used after the unexpected incident occurs. What MyClyns
is would be best described as new, alcohol-free, non-toxic,
non-burning germ protection spray shown to reduce more
than 60 potentially dangerous germs, including MRSA,
staph and E-coli*. Compared to other method's we
use for sanitation and Germ Defense, MyClyns is the
hands down winner every single time. It's closest competitors
would be hand Sanitizer followed by Soap and Water for
there really isn't anything even remotely like this on
the market. Even John could sleep, rest assured that
he has done the best thing possible to protect Rowan
and the host of Germs children today face. Professionals
in the Medical, Law Enforcement and Military have
already known about its benefits and now you can
too. I am not even a tiny bit of the Germ Phobe that
John is and non-the-less understand the importance
of fighting Germs to keep our children healthy and
know the importance of sanitation and with MyClyns
I no longer have to run my children to the nearest
bathroom and wash them down or slather hand Sanitizer
every time they face the public. Where has this stuff
been all my life? Now if I can keep John from buying
this by the Semi Truck full and making a spectacle of
himself every time Rowan comes within five feet of
a person he does not know!

Have a John at home? I feel for you but right now
you can have a chance of winning some MyClyns of
your very own. Discipline and Manors classes you have
to locate on your own for I have my hands full with
John already. To enter just head over to the site and
take a look around then come back here and post what
you have learned. The contest will start tonight and
run to Midnight on April 26th.

Hey there, while you are here don't forget to enter
my Radius Toothbrush and isABelt Contests!

EyeFatigue.com Review and Giveaway!

Both John and I have fading eye sight. Each year
it gets worse and worse and though I have seen a
doctor for it, John is clinging to his youth and says
his eyes are just tired and once he gets some rest
he will be okay. I have a astigmatism that I have had
for a long time and it is just getting worse. I am vain
and refused to do what the doctor told me years and
years ago and the fact I am going through all this
now is my own fault. When I was in my early 20s
I first started to notice an issue and went to the doctor
the first time. That was when I found out and he
wrote me a prescription for a pair of glasses.
"Wear these every day for 6 months straight and you
will be able to fix your issues for they are mild and
not very bad."
"Can I get contacts?"
"No, Like I said, your condition is too mild and they
don't make contacts for something like that."
Well, Michelle was even more vain then compared to
now and those glasses were never, ever worn. It didn't
start getting really bad to I was in my late 30's but
now my doctor can write me a lovely prescription for
contacts should I wish but the fix in 6 months thing is
totally off the table. At least I went to the doctors and
found out. I may have lost my glasses a long time
ago and have been too lazy to go back but I know.
John will not even walk in the door. I can't help but
to laugh there for I am the biggest phobe when it
comes to doctors and you have to drag me in by my
nose and even I will go to an eye doctor. How big of
a baby is John?
What he has been doing instead is stealing my glasses.
I buy them at the drug store for even though my vision
is much worse then when I was tested in my 20s it
still isn't bad on the whole. In my 20s it was a once in
a while thing and now it is constant but the actual issue
is my vision is sorta blurry looking at far away objects.
I am far from blind and I would think Johns can't be much
worse since he is fine with every pair of glasses I grab
for me. Now I suppose I could start getting them from
the eye doctor but I don't see much of a difference and
I have a habit of loosing a pair every month of so and
buying that many through the doctor would cost a small
fortune. Instead I stick with the ones by the Pharmacy.
Those are cheaper then the Co-pay at the Doctors office
and work just as well. Now if I could get John to stop
stealing them I would not be getting as many.
The last pair he took were a pair that were sunglasses.
Now that really bums me out for Summer is almost here
and not only did I loose those to him I lost them all
together for he has no clue were he put them. Why should
he, John seems to think he has an endless supply of
glasses for every time I can't find mine I order some
more or grab them at the store and he just helps himself.
and I am stuck footing the bill. Now we go through about
20 pair of year and it is starting to add up so I thought
if I found a place that has just what he needs and what
I need I can kill two birds with one stone and maybe
if they were the right kind for him he would take better
care of his and not loose them. You see his problem
is not his eye sight per say, it is tired eyes from strain.
He spends so much time with Crosswords and Reading
and then a good part of the day on the computer the
strain is making his vision all wonkey. I didn't even
know if they made glasses for people with normal
vision and tired eyes but I started searching and would
you believe they do? Not only a pair of glasses but
a whole web site filled with information and tips on
lenses and fitting and they also carry glasses with low
power like I need so I really could kill two birds with
one stone. After all the things that have been going
on around my house right now this seems like a light
at the end of the tunnel and thanks to EyeFatigue.com
I can even see that light!

I was sent a pair for review and they were just what
John needed. They even come with a little case so he
is not loosing them all over the place because he doesn't
pick them up. Would you believe when I got the new
furniture a few weeks ago about 4 pair of old glasses
fell out. At first I was excited for I thought it would save
me the problem of buying more but once I saw the lenses
I was bummed. If they had this case on them they might
have made it. John wore them for all of the week so
far and just loves them and has not complained of a
headache since he started either. The Computer Glasses
were made just for him, well, people like him and take
care of the issues that affect him on a regular basis such
as the glare that affects everyone who spends a lot
of time on a computer. People assume one glass is just
as good as another but when it comes to your eyes
it is better to be safe then sorry for hey, we only get
one pair in our life and that's all she wrote. The glasses
on EyeFatigue.com are specifically made for people who
normally do not need glasses to function in life but
are taking the strides necessary to keep it that way and
protecting them from strain. A normal prescriptive pair
of glasses can sometimes do more harm then good
and you should read though all the information and make
an educated choice whenever you are dealing with
something as important as your eyes.

They also offer a solution for people like me who
need a low powered glass that could not normally be
bought over the counter. For years I have been grabbing
a 1, the lowest you can get at a drug store but they
are still too strong and though they do help me be able
to see clearer then before I also end up with headaches

Clip-Money.com Review and Giveaway!

Remember the Titanium Money Clip we
just went over not too long ago? Hey, those guys
make more then Money Clips and I have to
tell you. With all the things going on around here
I almost forgot. I have been doing so much running
lately I have more then once forgotten to take my
medication with me and I have paid for that. Dearly.
The few times I have remembered I had a whole other
set of problems. The plastic bottles. Life has been such
a whirl wind the last couple of weeks I crushed two
of them by being so out of sorts I sat on my purse.
One, it is not a good idea to take your entire bottle
of medication with you in the first place. If you are
only going somewhere for a day or so and cart it
along you run into the risk of loosing it or even having
it stolen. When you take the medications I take loosing
your medication is no small thing. For starters my
insurance will only cover it every so often and most
of the items I am on are not cheap. I don't know
about you but I just don't have a few extra hundred
dollars laying around to replace a prescription. The other
being that a lot of my prescriptions are Narcotics and
too make sure no funny business is going on most doctors
request a police report if it is stolen and will only replace
a ruined one once a year or less. So where is a good
place to keep them? Where would they be safe?
A medication sorter? One of those Monday through Sunday
deals that keep everything straight? Now that sounds good
in theory but when you are in an out of waiting rooms
and doctors offices and the hospital lounge that is not
always a good thing. For one you are pre-occupied by
why you are there and not on full alert and the other thing
is if someone does look through your items and sees that
it would be the first thing they grab. So what should I
do then? Well Clip-Money.com has something just for
that purpose. The Pill Fob! This hooks right on your
key chain and it made out of Titanium and there is no
way in the world you can crush it by sitting on it.
No way it can get ruined at all. It is lightweight and
stays out of the way and can even serve as a spot to
store some emergency cash. This is a must have for
anyone who needs a certain medication and I know I
am getting one for my Mothers Nitro pills for she has
yet to remember to bring some with her when we leave
the house. The Pill Fob solves all your problems barring
theft but, but but, they also make something to help there
too!

Clip-Money.com also makes a Titanium Whistle that
will last a life time and this is a must have for any
single girl or daughter. Guys, you can use them too
but I know for a fact when Rowan is old enough to
go places by herself this is the first thing she will
have. At the first sign of danger I will pound it in her
head to blow that non-stop to help comes. Run and
blow and if you see a person touching your Pill Fob,
blow then too! We teach our children and young ladies
to be vigilant in today's world. To carry their keys out
so they can be used as a weapon and to not go into
dark areas and travel in groups but this doesn't always
work out. Sometimes they end up in those situations any
ways and sometimes they are too young to have keys, so
what then? A whistle is a perfect choice for it is loud
enough to attract attention and that is what they need.
The first order of business should be to alert every person
around that you need help by screaming "Fire" and
blowing that Whistle to a mob arrives to help!
The Whistle is also great for calling the kids in
the house at the end of the day or if you are camping
and hear a wild animal give it a blow and it might just
scare it away. Give it a bunch of blows and it might
just scare everything away. Sporting events or whatever
other reason you might need a whistle for, make it
a titanium for this is one whistle you will never have
to worry about replacing. It is also lightweight and loud
and is sure to attract loads of attention no matter what
you use it for. Both the Pill Fob and the Whistle can
be placed on a Titanium Chain that can be cut to
length and are a perfect way to carry both of these
items and with Titanium you know you are going to
get the best value for your money and a product that
is sure to last forever. Last of all, the people from
Clip-Money.com care for their customers and are not
only lightening fast with delivery they are always there
to answer your questions and are a fantastic company
to work with all around. Next time your parent is fumbling
for their blood pres sue medication in a twist off child and
adult proof plastic bottle like we see Uncle Bob do every
Sunday at breakfast make their life a little more easy with
an easy to open and forever safe Titanium Pill Fob. The
next time your Teenage Daughter or Son says they are
walking a couple of blocks down the street to their friends
after dark, rest more easy knowing they have their Titanium
Whistle with them. Both of these items are just what the
Doctor ordered to keep your own blood pressure at
a manageable level so you are not the one fumbling with
a Pill Fob on a Sunday Morning breakfast with the family.

Clip-Money.com has once again thought of my readers
and they are offering one lucky winner the choice of either
a Pill Fob or a Whistle of their own. To enter just
head over to the site and take a look around then come
back here and post what you have learned. The contest
will start tonight and run to Midnight on April 29th.

Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog Review and Giveaway!

Now you guys know John was a fireman.
He worked for the city of Detroit for many
many years before taking an early retirement.
He did so because at the time we thought
we were going to be moving out of state
soon for my son was getting closer and closer
to 16 and would soon be in collage or able to
move with us if he chose. We just wanted out
of Michigan winters and he needed to find a job
he could do once we moved for it isn't that easy
to get into a major cities fire department. He does
miss it for he was also one of the 50 Detroit firemen
selected for the Hazmat Team after 911 and got to
do some pretty neat stuff with that. I don't know
if you guys know what the Renaissance Center is
but to explain it is the largest sky scrapper in
Detroit and the Hazmat guys got to repel ( with
a harness and rope) down the side of it from the
top. The also got to crawl in underground places
that were built over years ago and many other cool
things for the Federal Government was training them and
SWAT guys to be able to handle whatever terrorist act
could happen so the city was prepared. There are also a lot
of things for he job he hated and I have spent a lot of
time among Firemen and I have to tell you they are
a rowdy bunch who I swear a lot of them are just mental
and even more of them that after speaking to for only a few
minutes I think there is no way these guys have a job that
has any responsibility for they are like a bunch of kids.
A bunch of Goofy kids with no self control at that but
then the bell goes off and they are all business then you
realize they are like that because their jobs are so intense
that they try to enjoy what ever time they are not working
or they would go mad with depression and some of the
things they see are just awful. Most of the time when they
speak of work they laugh and make light, even when John
had a house fall on him and it it were not for two beams
falling in a Tee Pee position he would have been crushed
they still find it funny. Then there are times when they
tell of a run so sad you see a bunch of grown, tuff,
seen it all men, break down and cry like babies. Other
times they are just disgusted at what they have seen.
John says the hardest time he ever had and it breaks him
down every time he speaks of it, was a house fire where
6 children were trapped inside and the Grandmother was
down the street visiting for all the kids were asleep. The house
was ruined and none of the children made it but the part he
said he will never get over is the wails of the Grandmother
when they had to tell her they could not save any of them.
The time he was most angry was when a Mother and her
three children died in a fire and when they were securing the
house in the light of day they found all of the family's
life insurance policy's sitting on the kitchen table. It seemed
that father set the fire before he left for work and wanted
to be able to find them when it was over so he left them
in easy reach. I can understand why that would disgust him.
I also have told you guys that I suffered a fire.
Andrew was five and at my Mothers for I was at work. My
neighbor called and let me know my home was on fire and
I ran out the door and flew home like a crazy lady and found
my street blocked off by the trucks. I jumped out of my car
and started to run to my house that was still in flames and
a fireman grabbed me in route and carried me over to the
truck and they had to restrain me while they explained how
bad it was and the total damage to my home was 2 thousand
dollars less then the value of the home. In hind site, we
were lucky. Had we been home and sleeping we would have
not made it. The fire started in the wiring of my bed room
and traveled straight up. Andrew had the master bedroom above
me. Both the back corner of my home and the roof were
completely burned through. My neighbors saw the smoke and
broke out a window and put the garden hose in while
waiting for a the fire department but all that did was add
more oxygen and sped the fire up. It seems it was smoldering
in my walls for a while and could have went up at any
time and I was thankful it did not go up in the middle of the
night. The bottom line is fire is no joke and you can never
be too prepared and you need to teach your children its
dangers and teach them young.
I just got the chance to review a book to
aid parents in just such a thing. Sparkles the Fire Safety
Dog. It is a cute book on an important subject. Sparkles is
nothing less then a Dalmatian and a real dog too boot!
The book is an easy to read for kindergartners on up
or even better it is easy to understand for pre-schoolers
on down and goes over everything a parent should with
their children. It is extremely important to have a fire
plan for in the case of my house had we been home and
awake Andrew would have needed to know since I might
not have been able to get to him because of the location
of the fire. Sparkles teaches your children the importance
of smoke detectors and and the sound they make to
warn you of trouble. Sparkles also lets your kids know
how to get out of a smoke filled house and explains how
it is good to have such things as a fire plan and a meeting
place and that the whole family should be involved in practice
fire drills. Sparkles is a darling guide through and important
subject and is the perfect pooch for holding younger kids
attention and if the Firemen themselves don't get your children
excited to learn Sparkles is more then happy to pick up
the slack.

After reading the book and going over it with John
we both agree this should be a staple in every home with
small children. It is non-threatening and the Doggie makes it
cute and a very useful tool when it comes to teaching your
children fire safety. There is a Tip sheet in the back for
reference and Sparkles even has her bio back there so they
kids have a chance to get to know her and relate. Hey, they
may have already met Sparkles and not even known it for she
has been on PBS Sprout and Fox and Kids with her Human
Firefighter Hilton and her friend Spanner. The Book also offers
web links to Sparkles own web page and lots of other places
to find useful information for your children. Just short enough
to read on a regular basis and still packed with everything you
need to know it makes a great addition to every library and
your kids will have fun as they learn a valuable lesson. Just
hope your kids don't glob onto things like Andrew did when he
was little. I promise you I have to practice a belly crawl
and Stop, Drop and Roll more times in during his year in
Kindergarten then he said the Alphabet. Andrew tended to practice
everything he learned to he could do it in his sleep and everyone
he ever met could do it too! Knowing this book by heart isn't
a bad thing though!
I have a copy of the book signed by the author for one
of my readers. To enter just head over to the web site,
with Sparkles or Firefighter Hilton's and take a look around
then come back here and post something you have learned
in a comment. The contest will start tonight and run to

Planet Bike Review and Giveaway!

Things were so different when I was a kid. We
did all sorts of things that parents today
would be freaking out about. Life was more relaxed
and things were just so much more simple. You seldom
heard about crime on TV like you do now, never heard
about kids shooting other kids and could even walk to
the store all by yourself. Now I am not THAT old though
I was reading a blog last night where the lady said
I remember way back when this show was on TV and my
favorite and all I kept thinking was wow, she was a
teenager there and my son was in like the 3rd grade and
she feels old? She can't be more then 25-30 and I would
trade places any day. Any ways, when I started my child
hood things were like that, just happy go lucky in life.
Nobody wore seat belts and I remember being crammed into
the back of a Tiny Fiat convertible with my Moms best
friend son and both our Irish Setter and theirs and we
had the top down, didn't sit in a car seat and hey, I
don't even think we wore seat belts. One Summer I rode
the entire four and a half hour trip back from our Cottage
in the back of a pickup truck with other kids and
safety gear? PFFT, Please, we didn't need no stinken
safety gear. By the time I was 8 years old I rode my
bike miles and miles away from home on country roads and
busy highways and never even knew what a helmet was.
By ten I had my own boat and I did get in big trouble
with that once, I was gone about 5 hours and didn't tell
anyone I was going fishing. I wasn't in trouble for
not telling I was going, I wasn't in trouble for being
gone so long, I was not even in trouble for going off
by myself with a boy, what I was in trouble for was leaving
and not taking my Cousin Elizabeth with me who was visiting
for the day. She drove me nuts and the point was to
get away from her and first chance I got I ran for
the hills. Back in the city we not only talked to strangers
we introduced ourselves and sometimes our parents even encouraged
it. I really doubt girls sell their girl scout cookies today like
we did for we would just go off by ourselves and go door to door
knocking and asking complete strangers if they would like
to buy some. The only thing we had that even remotely resembled
safety equipment was some old life jackets up north that
were so old I doubt they would have even floated. I am
sure they were rotted on the inside from spending a
couple of decades in the garage up north. Now that was when
I started my childhood. By age 12 the Oakland county Child Killer
was all over the News and parents reeled in their kids leashes
and you either had to go every place in a group or not
leave the house at all. Parents started to treat kids different
and became protective and things like the seat belt laws were
put into action and car seats and in the next ten years
everything changed. By the time I was 20 it was a huge fine
if you didn't have your seat belt on and car seats had to
be inspected before you could leave the Hospital with 'your
baby and with Roller blades came things like Knee pads and
wrist guards and helmet's. In the years leading up to
my son's birth kids wore helmet's for everything, even riding a bike.

Now when I was young the only thing we did to our bikes
is to attach streamers and horns and bells and things in
the tires. Now a days you have a hard time finding all that
but what you can find is shelves and shelves of Pads and
helmet's and bike lights and loads of other safety gear. When
Andrew was young I had a hard time making him
wear a helmet for it was still in my head how unnecessary I
thought they were and he never used a light or pads but
since then I have really changed my views. Not so much
that I think kids are super delicate and will break for
hey, falling off your bike is a ritual we all go through
when learning and I was not worried about him falling off
and hurting himself. I didn't feel he needed a bike lite
to see better at dusk or night fall for he was close
to home and was not allowed to ride in the street with out
me. If he got a light then all it was used for was decoration
so he would look cool. Then around the time he turned 8 we
started riding our Bikes on long rides together and that
is when I got a little strict on him wearing safety
equipment and will continue to do so for Rowan. Again
though, and let me repeat that, it is not because of the kids
it is because of the adults that I fear for their safety.
When is the last time you went on a good long bike ride with
your kids? Andrew and I spent one Summer riding about 5 miles
a day and how the people in cars acted terrified me to
the point I took a lot of large steps backwards and before
that summer I did not mind if Andrew rode his bike in the
street right in front of the house or took his bike to the
park by himself. After that summer, no way in the world
would I let him do those things and he had a helmet and a
spare, knee pads, elbow pads and I would have out him in
shoulder pads and wrist guards had he let me. He had lights
in the front and back and reflective tape and a loud horn
for excuse me for saying but people drive like fools. During
the Summer at least 2 times a week someone would almost hit me.
Once I went over the hood of a car for the person did not stop
and I wiped out a dozen or so times that summer trying to
stop even though I know I had the right away way for it was
plain to see they would not. I don't know about where you live
but it is against the law in Michigan to block a sidewalk
when you are in a car and pulling out of a place or home.
People need to walk by or ride by and the people in cars
just don't care. They will pull out in front of you and cut
you off just to make sure they do not have to wait that extra
second waiting. Why not? They are in a car and you are not, what
are you going to do about it?I made Andrew ride behind me so if
something were to happen it would happen to me but one time
a lady was so anxious to get out of the parking lot she almost
hit Andrew and that time I went a little off my rocker. It
was a double driveway type deal and one side was for entering
and the other was for exit. While heading across one lady cut
us off so we had to hit the breaks and I was closest to her and
Andrew was behind me with his back tire sticking out into the
entry driveway a little.I was not worried about him for to
get in there was a light and it was red and the reason we were stuck
waiting was the lady who cut me off was waiting on the same light.
( see what I mean, this lady couldn't go anywhere but rather then
leave the sidewalk UN blocked for us she made she she was as far
up to the street as she could get so when the light turned green
see would already be 3 feet closer to her destination.) While we
were all waiting for the light to turn green another lady decided
she did not want to wait for the woman who was blocking our way
and was going to go out the In drive away. She cut over the curve to
pull into a driveway that was clearly one way and in doing so she came
about 3 inches from Andrew and did not even care. Then she had the
nerve to glare at us like how dare we ride a bike and get in
her way. I lost it and made Andrew pull his bike into the lot and got
off mine and headed to get her plate number yelling the whole way
about how rude she was and how many laws could she break here and
how close she came to hitting my child. She panicked and pulled the rest
of the way over the curve, ran the red light, cut into traffic and left.
I was in shock! Oh yeah, Helmets and lights and every type of protection
I could find I got right after that. I had lights put every few inches
on his bike and will do the same with Rowan. In fact, now that I
am finished with my long I am so crabby story, that is why I am
here today. I just did a review for a company called Planet Bike
that has lights for every occasion and some pretty darn neat ones too!

These guys have some bike lights I didn't Even know they made.
Big ones, little ones, flashing and blinking and Lions and Tigers
and Bears! OH, MY! Planet Bike knows lights, that is a fact.
No matter what type of bike you are looking to outfit they have a
light for you. I was sent 3 different ones for review and placed one
on Andrews bike, his low rider thing a ma jig for that was the only
one that did not have any lights or reflective gear on it. I tried to
wrap reflective tape on it but he threw a fit and didn't want me to
ruin the finish of a bike he swears is going to be a collectors item
and all the lights that were at K Mart when we went were ones
that had to be permanently installed. So no go, will ruin the value
there too. Since Planet Bike has all types of lights the one they
sent was easy to attach and remove and though it stays put just
perfect it does not have to be hooked up in a manor you can't remove
it. Awesome for before that I would not let him leave the complex
with it due to my own experiences with people in cars. I know it
bummed him out and he is not a little kid but if a person is
going to hit me I know they would hit him too! The ones we installed
on Rowans bike are removable too. Another thing that I loved is
they are smaller and since she has a little bike they didn't look
stupid on it. Now John was laughing as he put them on the bike
for even he thought I was being ridiculous putting lights on a Toddler
bike for how often will she be out at night but I reminded him
that someday we might go to the corner for Ice Cream and what
if it is dusk out or even night time then. The Sun goes down
pretty early in the fall here in Michigan and even if the temperature
is 70 degrees and perfect for a bike ride it might be dark at
7:30 and Andrew and I often walk down to Baskin Robbins for an
ice cream around that time. Her lights are a steady red in the
back so cars can see her and a white one in the front that works
two ways, it allows her to see what is ahead or you can turn it
to flash and alert cars or other people to your presence. All
the lights we got for review worked perfect and the install was
a cinch and even I could put them on without 42 pages of
directions. Also, 25% of the proceeds from the sale of any light
goes to Bycycle advocacy and you guys know how I love a
place that gives back.

The selection is amazing and to be honest with
you guys I never knew there were that many types of lights
out there and they did so many differant things and served so
many differant purposes. I thought we were pretty avid bike riders
here and never realized I knew so little about safety. The lights
I got and the reclective tape was all I thought I needed and
now I realize how woefully underpreparred I was. Planet Bike
has more then lights too, hey it is Planet Bike not Street of
Lights Bike! They also carry Fenders and Pumps and Locks and
Racks and Cages and Gloves, okay, let me make this more easy
on myself. If it was made for a bike they have it there! They
even have training computers for the die hards. They support the
Grassroots movement to conserve the Planet by saving energy where
we can and believe a bike is a great way to start. They carry
everything you need to not only get started but keep your
bike in top shape, take it with you and support and advice
on how to make utalitzing a bike for transportation a doable part
of your life. You can order their items right off the site at
an extreamly reasonable price of they can help you
find a dealer near you. Don't forget that 25% of the sale
will go to promoting biking and educating people on its
benifets and they work hard to make biking a better option
by improving conditions of trails and safety for people
who ride. They have been doing this since 1996 and had a
goal of a million dollars by 2009 and we should know soon
if they made it. Next time you hit that bike path that you and
your whole family enjoy and have a spectacular afternoon enjoying
the sun then load them in a bike rack from Planet Bike for there is
a good chance they are the reason that bike path was so much
fun! Planet Bike is rolling our kids into the future one light at a
time!
I have a bike light for one of my readers too! To enter just

Ouchies Review and Giveaway!

I have been really lucky with Andrew in a lot
of ways. Though I had that little boy in the ER
at least 3 dozen times in the first year of his
life not one of those times he was there for a real
reason. Every single time I ran him in it was because
I was a first time Mom and just freaking out again. I
used to take him to a small Hospital instead of the
large one for the simple fact it was used mostly for
industrial reasons during the day and the wait there
was never more then 10 minutes. I also knew them pretty
well by the time Andrew was 2 or 3 from my constant visits!
Now when I rushed him there I was sure there was something
wrong with him. Convinced! Though now I know it was because
I read to many books on child ailments and would convince myself
this or that was wrong by comparing what the book said to how
Andrew was acting. Some of the reasons I took him in
were:
1. He fell and clunked his head and didn't cry. The book
said if a child doesn't cry or cries longer then 15
minutes something serious could be wrong. They never
bothered to mention sometimes they don't cry because
they are not really hurt.

2. I rushed him in because he had little white bumps all
over him and I thought they were some sort of bug bite
and was appalled a bug could be biting my baby. It turns
out sometimes fair skin little babies oil glands are not
always fully developed and its sorta like infant acne. DOH!

3. He ran a fever for 3 days straight of 100. Again, a book
said that wasn't all that high but if they had one for more
then a day or two it could be a sign of something worse. It
was, he was teething!

Those are pretty much are the types of reasons I had him in
there and it wasn't long before they knew me by name and
I am more then sure all they did was humor me and wait
to I had calmed down before sending me on my way. Only
twice did Andrew really need a doctor and one of those times
was because of a Doctor and what he did, not because Andrew was
ill on his own. It was a Sunday and during the HMO craze where you
had to take your child to a set place for set reasons and I thought
he had an ear infection. He was crying all day and pulling hard on
his ear. I rushed him to this Clinic the insurance people said I
had to use and told the doctor there my fear. He said Okay, never
even looked at Andrew and wrote me a prescription for Amoxicillin.
I explained that he was allergic. He asked if Andy had ever had it.
I told him no, but I was allergic and so was my mother. He told
me that it was an old wives tale that it ran in family's and Andy
would be fine. An hour later Andrew was having a really bad reaction
and that was time one he needed a Doctor and not the dummy who
gave me the Amoxicillin in the first place. The other time Andrew got
bit by a dog on his lip. Besides those two times that should have been
one for it was not even an ear infection it was teething and had
the doctor bothered to look, ugh! But besides that Andrew has never
in his life needed a Doctor. No injury's ( knock on my wooden head
here)or anything.

Rowan on the other hand is going to be my wild child. I can
already tell. So far she has avoided anything serious but she has
jumped out of her high chair and her walker and I have to keep a
constant eye on her for she is just one of those Baby's that will
always have to be-in the mix! She is the one who will deplete my
first aid kit daily and I will have to buy band-aids in bulk. When I
got the chance to do the next review I was all over it for I know
these are going to come in handy in a big way!
Ouchies! These Band are so cool looking your kids will forget why
they needed them in the first place! Now they offer the same protection,
same perks and benefits and keep your Boo Boo just as safe and allows
for them to heal just as nicely, so I have to ask myself, "Why don't all
band-aids look so cool?" They just rock and when I say that I mean
literally too for they have some that say "ROCK" right on them. They
also have some Skull and Crossbones guys, you know how I love things
that have skulls and crossbones for Rowan! She only appears all sweet
and innocent but Andrew and I know she has an agenda and Skull and
Crossbones clothing and items are the only way Mommy here can warn
the unsuspecting public! They have ones geared for the boys and some
geared for the girls but all of them are cool! In fact they are so cool
I would even wear them myself! Want more? You Betcha! For the little
ones they have MR Men and Little Miss. These are those famous
emotion faces for the tykes that let them show how they are feeling
and teach them how to relate to them as well. Still want more? You
Betcha again! They have a pack that you can design yourself. That's
right, no cutie little pictures and patterns here, you get right to the
point.

"Joe's left Finger!"
Big Baby Johns Paper Cut!"
"Rowan got a Boo Boo!"
"Mommy stubbed her toe chasing Rowan!"

or you can draw your own pictures and designs. I am pretty sure
Andrew would have all sorts of World Of War craft buggers! For Mom's
it is great too for you can even put the time or Date on it if you are
trying to keep track of the last time you cleaned it or put on antiseptic!
Each Pack comes with 20 Band aids, 4 of each design and are sure
to be a hit and it will not be long before even a slight scratch will
demand a band-aids for they are just that cute. The Styles are:

kids who want to design their own bandages. Complete with 3 markers
(Blue, Red, Purple), this tin box comes with 20 adhesive bandages
in 5 colors (Blue, Pink, Purple, Green, Yellow). Any way you cut it
( groan, boo, I know!!) you are going to end up with one cool
Band aid. Even my Son who at 16 years of age would rather bleed
to death then put on a Band Aid wants to stash a few in his room,
just in case. My favorite thing about them though is the boys were
over and the middle Monster fell down and instead of throwing a huge,
mega, giant, mammoth, DID I SAY BIG? tantrum he was fixated on
the Band Aid and not the Boo Boo that would have been portrayed
as a life or death paper cut had we not had one of these Band
aids. Now all I need is a bag of Lolly pops and when the kids get
an ouchie they can cover it with one and grab a Lolly and get back
out and play! Ouchies sure makes the tears a lot more colorful here!
You just have to love that!
