Lumnique Review!

I never was a Candle person to I started my life as a Product
reviewer. It is one of the parts of my job I truly love. I get to
discover items I missed out on for most of my life. Candles in
general are a wonderful way to add warmth to your home and no pun
intended there guys. Not only do they add depth to you home
they just make a relaxing atmosphere. The flicker is hypnotizing
and engrossing and you find yourself just kicking back and shrugging
off everything that annoyed you before. I don't know how I spent
so much of my life without them around and now I just don't think
I could do without them. I Mean really, think of the benefits
here:

A candle is lovely decor for any style. If on the cheap or
all out lavish, you can find a candle for every taste and
every style that dresses up your room and hints at your style
in a subtle way. A must have for those starting out and
looking to decorate for they will look great all by themselves
and blend into every environment later on so you will never
have to worry about a candle clashing, they are meant to.

They are great for fragrance. Loads of candles have
fragrance and when they burn they fill the whole house
with the aroma you have chosen. It is a simple way
to breath fresh air into a stale house and great for
aromatherapy

They are romantic. Um, no romantic dinner is complete
without a candle. Blasphemy! Not to forget bathtubs
and bedrooms and hey, isn't everything romantic when you
add a candle? Well, almost I can add a bevy of them to
Rowans diaper pail and that still isn't!

Perfect for emergency's. You know you need um in case
the lights go out! I have a whole box of them for
after that brown out we just couldn't afford to keep
everything in batteries for the thing went on for like
a week

They make a perfect gift. Face it, you just cant go wrong with
a candle. It doesn't matter their taste or style you can find
a candle that will blend with any situation. I do not know
a single person that would say, "EWE, you got me a candle?
How disgusting!" and I also do not know anyone that would
even consider re-gifting a candle. There are so many uses for
them other then for decor that you just don't let go of those
suckers! If you can get one that is stunning and personalized,
all the better!
So when I saw Lumnique in a magazine I had to find out
more and I hunted them down. Now these guys were a dream
to work with! From the get go they were the sweetest and most
kind people I have met. They were delighted to have a product
review and with products like theirs I can understand why. I
mean really, who wouldn't love to get one of these! Basically
what the Lumnique candle is would be a high quality candle
that is simplistic and perfect just like it is. Are they happy
with that? Nooooooooo, they make it better. They took this
top of the line candle and added an extra wick. That offers
people a cleaner burn with less soot. Cool! It also is more
efficient and of coarse offers double the ambiance!
Lumnique hand pours their candle to order. So instead
of buying a warehouse item that has been sitting around
gathering dust to you call up and order one, they wait to
they get that call then hustle their bustle and off they go
to pour you a fantastic work or art! The also use a clean
burning soy wax so add that with the double cotton wick
and you are really rock-en there and not only do they use
environmentally friendly dies they use natural essence oils for
the fragrance that holds its smell from start to the lights
go off! The only thing that is the same from candle to
candle is the thick rectangular glass jar and the matching
lid. After that every single thing is done according to your
specifications. The color and the aroma are hand picked

then Lumnique writes up a certificate that tells the recipient

just how special that candle is and how it was poured and

made just for them. Everything goes into a gorgeous box

with a really neat pack of matches and sent right to the

special person who is getting this treasure. Now I didn't

get a certificate from a loved one, but the people over at

Lumnique must have felt bad for me because they sent

a nice little note none the less. I am really loven this

candle though but I have got to tell you it is heavy. I

could not get over the weight of it for its size. It is the

glass that makes it like that for the jar they place the

candle in is beautiful all on its own and though I shed

a tear when the candle was gone I will keep that jar

forever! In fact I am planning on keeping the box forever

too for it is really awesome on its own. It is really

durable and would make for a great memento box.
I didn't think about this until I was actually writing the review
but just about everything you get when you order a Lumnique
would make a good gift all on its own. I was very impressed
if you can't tell. The only thing that bum's me out is now
I need another for in the name of review I burned it every
single day for 2 hours for this review to see how long it
would last. The candle from Lumnique has lasted almost

20 days! Now that is a shelf life. Now I can't promise you
that yours will last that long but I just wanted to see myself!
My final review of Lumnique is that they provide a beautiful,
thoughtful gift or something even for you and each one is
as unique as the person who orders it. The only thing that
all the candles have in common is the fact they will most
assuredly bring a smile to the face of whomever receives
it! Stunning! I know what I want for Mothers Day!

London Bridge Children Review and Giveaway!

I have had the best time creating Rowans
room. The painting and the trim and the
wall art and details such as framed pictures and
pillows and curtains and everything else it takes
to turn a boring old room into a Princess Paradise.
The blankets and sheets and even decorating the
dresser and what Nick knacks she needs has to be
just so to give it that perfect vibe. I was almost
there. All I needed was some framed photos and art
for her walls to give her room the finishing touch.
I have been waiting for the perfect picture so I
could get it turned into a painting at photo Fiddle
for I so love that places but knew there must be
other sites on-line that offered unique one of a kind
items to add a personal touch. I know I am the
one decorating Rowans room for she is too small but
I wanted to let it reflect her in as many ways as
possible. Then I came across a site called London
Bridge Children. These guys are the bomb! They
have the most adorable selection of paintings that
they make to fit your child.
London Bridge Children has a selection of wall
art that features little girls and little boys in
a variety of situations they can normally be found
in. From Baseball to playing dress up or just hanging
out. Each painting is very careful not to show the
face of the child and for a good reason. When you order
one of the pieces they will put your child's name onto
the painting. For the little boy or girl playing baseball
your child's name can be found on the team shirt, for
dress up on the purse she is carrying. Each piece if
adorable and would look perfect on its own but the
personalization is what gives the art an extra ump and
makes it pop! I was sent a picture of a little girl in
a ruffled booty sitting next to a bag that her name was
put on and I think it is the most adorable item ever. Even
more so since Rowan has some ruffled booty pants and
a travel bag close to the same size as the bag in the
photo that does have her name on it. There is not a doubt
in my mind that Rowan is going to tell everyone she knows
that the picture is of her and why not? It is so cute
I like to think it is as cute as her so it is her! They
have a great selection of girls and boys paintings and
if Rowan ends up being the tomboy I was I know I will
have to be back soon for they have the most darling little
tomboy picture with pigtails and a fishing pole. I spent
more time fishing and swimming when I was little then
anything else so I like to giggle and say that photo was
painted just for me. I am sure my mother would agree for
she knows just how much of a tomboy I was. There was not
a tree on the block I didn't climb and as a little girl every time
I was mad at my grandparents I would scurry up the big old
tree in our back yard so high it made my Grandmother nervous.
She even went so far as to have my Grandfather cut off the
lowest branches or the tree so I could not get in it. Did
anyway! Back to the word from our sponsor here, London Bridge
Children has a great selection of boys too as well as art that
could go in a boy or girls room. Have more then one little one
at home or does you child have a couple of friends they have
to be pried apart from? Don't worry, they have you covered
and have paintings with multiple subjects in them as well.
They definitely had the finishing touches I was looking for
and Rowans room is just about complete. All I need now is a
frame for a painting so wonderful.
London Bridge Children has more then just paintings on the
site, they also have a ton of gift ideas, Bedding and decor'
like crazy. They just got in hand stamped jewelry and we all
know what a hit those can be and they also have items for Mom
for she deserves a break after spending so much time with that
little bouncing bundle of energy. I am assuming your kids are
as crazy as Rowan can be and if they are not want to trade?
On the site I found a little lids hat that is too cute and
i have never seen something like that before. Same thing with
the sets of Burp Cloths and matching wipe containers. In fact
just about everything on the site is either a hand crafted item
or looks it and they specialize in one of a kind and monogrammed
items and only bring you the best of the best. You have just got
to check out the book holders and the growth charts for it is
just like I told you, that hand made detail and appeal. Everything
I saw was not only gorgeous it was and item I have not seen it
all over the place. Most children's stores I have been too are filled
with the same old items over and over again. As cute as their
products are I can only take so much Melissa and Doug and I
was craving items that were fresh and sometimes to get the fresh
feel you have to start back at scratch with items that have that
hand made charming appeal and London Bridge Children was just what
I had in mind. They are a perfect gift destination and when you
get a gift from them you can be sure you are not buying your child,
friend or relative a gift that ten other people are getting as well.
I for one plan on grabbing a book holder as soon as possible for
they are just too cute and Rowan already has a large collection
and they are starting to end up all over the house.
London Bridge Children is offing a print for one of my readers
as well. One reader will win a 11x14 print of their choice and to enter
just head over to the site and take a look around then come back here
and post what you liked best or your favorite item from the store.

Gelpro Review and Giveaway!

DO  you spend more time on your feet then anywhere
else? Work all day then come home and spend hours
cooking and cleaning and doing laundry. By the end
of the day are your feet screaming in protest? When
you spend so much time on your feet it isn't just
your feet that suffer it is your whole body. Your
feet and back may feel the brunt of the burden but
all of your muscles and bones are complaining as well,
just not as loud. Many people deal with this on a
regular basis and I was one of them. For the 20 something
years I worked I averaged around 60 hours a week and
most of those were spent on my feet. I had a bad back
going into it but those years also were kind enough to
reward me with heel spurs and trips to the Podiatrist.
I took every caution I could and bought the best shoes
I could and in later years even orthopedic, not very
attractive but so much better for my feet and I remember
some nights when I came home it was all I could do to
pry my shoes off my swollen feet and soak them in hot water
then crawl into bed praying for relief by the morning.
It is also not often I get a chance to bring you a product
review of an item I know so much about but if you spend
a lot of time standing and walking then you really need
to know about this next one and I am so happy to be able
to bring it too you.

For many years the Restaurant industry has used
Fatigue Mats behind bars and let me tell you they work.
At one point Oil was spilled all over ours and when
I say someone spilled oil on it I mean a vat of oil not
just a cup and they all had to be pulled out and soaked
in degreaser for the weekend to see if there was any
hope of saving them. Another little known fact, and I hope
this does not stop you from eating fried foods but oil eats
plastic if left to soak. To many competing chemicals and
restaurants in general are full of them. I used to go through a
pair of shoes per month due to the cleaning products from the
floors alone at work. Ewwwe! Any who weekends are busy and
we happened to be short staffed so I spent a lot of time back there
helping the bartenders. I never knew how much those mats
helped to I worked that weekend without them. Not only
were my feet the size of footballs I had blisters on
blisters and spent my entire day off with my feet elevated
and soaking in Epsom salt. The pain! Many times had I done
what I did that weekend and I have never had that problem
before. It was the mats. The old saying is true, you never
know what you have to it is gone. The fatigue mats not
only save your feet and back they give you more energy
for your body naturally has better posture and is not
working so hard to cushion your impact for the mat does
that job for you. Now the commercial mats are huge and
well, a little unattractive and I never thought of putting
one in my home. Since my back has been bad though I have
found myself wishing I had one several times for just standing
at the sink and doing dishes has often caused me great
discomfort. Cooking a large meal is even worse and on
the Holidays I literally had to break what I did down to
days and segments for I just could not stand that long.
As ugly as those mats are if you were to ask me if I wanted
one those days I would have screamed yes at the top of my
lungs and jumped up and down like a little kid when they
put it in! Most commercial mats passed up ugly long ago
and offer nothing in the way of style but when your feet
and back hurt who cares, you would wear a Tutu and combat
boots if it meant you would hurt less.
A couple of days ago I was flipping through some sites
and then had to hit rewind. Was that a fatigue mat? Correction,
was that a fatigue mat that looked good? Was that a mat that
not only looked good it was meant for home use? I can't believe
I was looking at it! For the first time in forever I was shocked
to see something from my job that I would enjoy having in
my home. Well, now that they made a few adjustments like adding
style. Gel Pro has taken those super ugly commercial fatigue mats
and made them super fashionable mats for home use and in sizes
that will fit every room. They are perfect for the kitchen,
bathroom and laundry room, or even Dad in his work area and
once you use one for a couple of days you will wonder how you
ever got by without them. The difference is drastic.
GelPro has several different sized floor mats as well as
seat cushions and place mats and a selection of colors and
patterns to match any home. Each Mat is specially designed to
help with back problems and foot problems by offering an cushion
and comforts you just can't get on a solid floor no matter how
good your shoes are. Their special core makes them the perfect
shock absorber and instead of your feet, legs and back taking
the impact the mat absorbs it. Something as simple as shuffling
your feet can put a strain on your body and while you do not
realize it as you do it often at the end of the day when you
get a chance to rest it all comes back to you at once. GelPros
mats eliminate those aches and pains at bedtime and allow you
to truly relax when you deserve it! Unlike the commercial mats
I used GelPro went for style and they redesigned the mats and
only used the better materials that are out there to accomplish
this feat. GelPro Mats are going to last forever and do not wear
out like your back and feet do. Why not let something else take
the impact off of your poor tired body! GelPro spent forever
developing something you will be proud to show off and still not loose
its purpose. They managed to keep all the benefits of a fatigue mat in
tack and still come up with a product that you would be proud
to have your mother in law see. Speaking of style, they have seven
different variety's and loads of colors to choose from and
add in all the different sizes and the combinations you can create
are endless. I am a simple kind of girl so for review I just picked
a basic black with the basket weave and let me tell you I love
it. It goes perfect with my kitchen and my black and silver decor'
and no more standing at the sink cleaning out 42 zillion baby bottles
to only have to hobble away because of my aching feet and back.
The bathroom and the Laundry area will be my next venture and I
would love to upgrade the GelPro mat in the kitchen to a larger
one for with as much cooking as I do it would be a dream to have my
whole floor covered. One more cool thing is right now they have
a special going on where is your order one of their Designer mats
they are going to send you a 18x24 spot mat for free. That is a 70
dollar value and now you can do two rooms for the price of one.
I can't stop thinking about how much money in Bengay I will save alone
if I hit up the kitchen and bath! GelPro is just one of those places
that you can't go wrong with, good prices, awesome styles and
they manufacture a product that is great for you too! Next time you
spend a whole day in the kitchen, go out and dance, don't spend your
evening soaking your feet!
GelPro is great to my readers to. The are going to give one of
you a spot mat in your choice of color and design. To enter just head
over to their site and take a look around then come back here and
post what you learned or what mat you like best! The contest will
start tonight and run to midnight on April 23rd.

Apple Valley Woodworks Review and Giveaway!

I know I have been speaking about craftsmen and artisans
a lot lately. I can't help it for I see some of the work
these extremely talented people do and just have to share.
When people talk about products being made in the U.S.A
they always forget about these kinds of products and
these are the items that really separate our citizens
from other citizens. I don't just mean craftsmen and Artisans
from the US either, I mean from everywhere in the World. A locally
made item reflects the culture around them and I like to think
of it as product Olympics. Instead of Bob down the block showing
the World how fast he can run or Betty how high she can jump
they are showing you how creative they are in a design of a
quilt or a Coffee Table. I don't know about you guys but when
I see an item that was hand made I am proud the person who made
it is a member of my neighborhood for it reflects the best of
us and the skills our neighbors and friends have. When I buy wind
chimes from a craft show at the local Church the first thing out
of my mouth when someone asks about it is that it was made by
a local person. It makes me proud to be a member of our community
and when I find stores that feature craftsmen that honor old fashion
skills and make items by hand I am proud to shop there for I know
that tradition and quality have not gone down the Assembly line
with Edsel Ford or worse yet, outsourced to another country. I
can still buy it right down the block. When I go on vacations I
seldom hit the tourists stores and instead look for the road
side stands or craft fairs where I can buy an item that truly
reflects the people in that region not just a T-shirt, made in
Taiwan with a Florida Stamp on it. Give me the Sea Shell Necklace
that the lady picked the shells herself and strung in a specific manor
to the wee hours of the night. I want Maple Syrup from Vermont and
Pecans from Georgia. Florida is Oranges and not Coffee Mugs
and better yet is picking them yourself. I support hand made
dolls and toys and clothing and that is one of the reasons I
am so fond of Etsy. It breaks my heart that the guy who hand crafts
a rocking chair that will last several generations can't compete
with the cheap furniture you can pick up at Walmart. If they
only realized that Walmart chair will be gone before their children
outgrow it and the one Gary the Carpenter made will last forever, they
might think twiceabout where they spend their hard earned cash!

I found a store I want to share with you guys for it has that
old world charm, the forgotten quality, that eternal nostalgia
and is created by a man with more talent for his craft then
a whole warehouse of particle board shelf makers at Value Village!
Apply Valley Woodwork's is the name of the store and they dabble in a
little bit of everything as long as it is made out of wood. I
was so impressed with his work I had to contact him and tell him
all about it. When I was young I had a rocking chair, one that was
made just for children, that I loved with all my heart. I passed it
on to Andrew for it was passed on to me from my Mother. I don't know
if it had a history prior to that for I never thought to ask but I
do know had I not suffered a house fire when Andrew was around 5 it
would still be going strong today for it showed no signs of wear and
Andrew was already getting to big for it. It wouldn't have been much
longer before I stored it for his Children and I wish I would have a
little sooner for the only rooms in the house to loose everything were
Andrews room and mine. Had I put it in the basement Rowan would
be rocking away on it today. I have never seen a chair just like that
but because of the love I felt for it I always look at woodworking stores
and privately owned furniture stores. My dream is to someday run across
one and be able to snatch it up for future generations in my family and
though it is not the original it would be an Heirloom to me none the
less. So far I have not came across that style but I have found a lot
of beautiful items and some remarkable products over the years and I
may have walked into a store looking for one thing but I never came
out empty handed. I can't remember just what I was looking for when I
found this next store but once I saw the word "Wood" I knew I had to
check it out for it would be just my luck the one store I didn't look
at would be the store that had just what I was looking for. Now they
did not have my chair but oh, my, the items I found. He offered to
send an item for review and this will be an item that stays in my family
forever too! It is a step stool for Rowan that has her name hand painted
on it and is so superbly crafted I had a hard time telling it was hand
made at all. If it wasn't for the fact you can see the grain in the
wood and swirls from the natural hue of the wood you would swear it was
made from pressed wood for it is just that smooth. A lot of love went into
its making and even more pride for it is completely perfect in its
design. This is something you buy for your child and they pass it on
to theirs and someday a great great great grandchild of yours will be sitting
on it listening to Robo Whatzamabob read them a story while their parents
jet off to Mars for the weekend. This is one of those items in a home that
has history and a story and each person passes down a little more love
with the stool. This is something you daughter asks for five minutes after
she tells you she is going to have your first Grandchild. Something she
explains has to be in the Babies Nursery or the room would just not be
complete. This is a piece of Furniture you build a room around not something
that fills up space. Items like this vibrate with the love of everyone who
sat on them and come with stories and memories all of their own.
Rowans stool is a work of art in my eyes and she already knows it is
hers and though I am not quiet there when it comes to trusting her to sit
on it she has it right next to her in play area 2 ( my room) and it is
her leaning post and where she sets her toys she is busy taking inventory
off and right now she is using it as her own little table and soon I know
I will see her dragging it through the house. Not I am sure she will also
use it to get in a little mischief for hey, if you can't reach the cookie jar
her handy little stool will work great in a pinch but it will also be there
for her when she gets on and off the potty her first time. Or brushes her
teeth at the big girl sink. Or stands next to Mommy and helps to make Holiday
cookies or we cook our first meal together. It will be there with her when
she finds her first hiding spot in the closet or is peaking on the top shelves
of mine looking for a Holiday present with her name on it. She will have it
when we all sit together as a family for a movie or just needs an
extra spot for a friend to sit for her first sleep over. The point is
Apple Valley Woodwork's doesn't make Furniture they make memories
and traditions. Nothing is sitting around waiting to be bought, everything
is made for you. From the time you place your order your piece is
given special attention and detail that reflects in the quality and
is made to last lifetimes. They have the stool that I love so but
you can also get your little Princess a Cradle for her baby that
will stay with her forever. Wooden toys with old fashion charm and
banks that make the perfect gift for any child. Walk over to the
adult side and you will find a Mantle Clock that is so stunning it
took my breath away. We had one in our family forever and I told
you how my Mother and I neglected to fall in love with heirlooms
we should have and made the mistake of giving it away to another
family member. When I saw this one I realized how we never should
have done that for when you own an item like this is becomes a
part of your family's spirit.

Apple Valley Woodwork's has many items you can
personalize and some you can choose the wood or finish or both
and colors to please all. I have always been fond of a natural
finish in my items but as you can see by the Photo of the
Stool they made for Rowan the color and paint gives it a little
girl charm and you know it was made for someone as darling
as she is. Every child has a step stool sometime in their youth
and I am proud Rowans came from a place like Apple Valley
Woodwork's where I know it has the quality to keep up with her
energy and was not only made for her it reflects her personality.
If I had got the stool on my own I would have set her Easter
Basket on it for it would make a darling Easter gift for any little
boy or girl. If you are looking for an item for your own children,
your grandchildren or just a friends or even for something for
yourself, you can not go wrong with a one of kind, gorgeous
item from Apple Valley Woodwork's! I know I will treasure it
forever. I have so fallen in Love with a Rocking Burro the have
on the site and know I have got to get something like that for
Rowan for her Birthday. The only complaint I have is I already
know I will have to listen to a three hour very convincing story
on how the stool would not only look better, but would be safer
at my Mothers house and how she should hold onto it to Rowan
is older and can appreciate it. Now I know as she reads this she
will deny it but she is more like my Grandmother then she knows
and hey, Mom, if it doesn't go perfect here I have no problem painting

Zero Water Review and Giveaway!

Michigan has more lakes then you can shake a stick at.
We are even blessed with 4 or the 5 great ones and Lake
Superior is Huge, Cold and some of the cleanest water I
have ever seen. We used to have friends that had a Summer home
in Copper Harbor, that would be the furthest point you can
go North in Michigan and resides on a Peninsula that juts
out right into Lake Superior. Now as much as I love the water
and my Grandparents swore I was part fish, I only went swimming
in that lake maybe twice in my whole life. It is just too cold.
Bitter cold and even in August you can swear ice cubes are
floating by. It is so clear you can see straight to the
bottom even in depths of 50 feet of more. If you have never
visited you should for it is not only breathtaking they
offer some of the most interesting and fantastic scenic views
and vacation destinations there are. The State Parks alone in
that part of Michigan are worth the trip. The amount of water
that Lake Superior provides, staggering! And it all flows down
to us lower Michiganders in the form of Michigan, Huron and
other lakes and streams. In fact you can not go more then a
couple of miles in any direction in Michigan without running
into water of some sort. You would think that with all
that water Michigan would have some of the best drinking
water in the World.
You would be wrong!
Lot's of places in Michigan rely on their own wells and those
that are lucky enough to be hooked up to a City system are
blessed with water that comes from places like the Detroit River.
As clean and fresh as Superior is, the Detroit River flows a
whole other direction. Nasty! We used to ride a boat to
an Amusement park in Michigan called Boblo and I swear when
you looked at that water while in route you would swear you didn't
need the boat you could just walk across for the water itself it is that
thick with debris and trash and just plain old Polluted. A lot
of people would never dare to swim in it let alone drink from
it for, YUCK! That gross! I am one of those people lucky enough
to be hooked into the Cities Water System too!

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Now I know that the water I see is not the water I drink. I
understand that. I realize all water goes through a massive treatment
system and is purified of any contaminators and even has extra goodness
added to it for health purposes. I know I am not downing a glass of
pollutants and that nasty, disgusting, algae laden water that was so
thick with pollutants you could walk on has been replaced with fresh,
clean and pure water that is supposed to be just as good if not better
then any bottled water you can buy. I understand that completely. But
it does not change the fact every time I get a glass from the kitchen
sink all I can think about is sewage. Every time I raise the glass to
my lips I swear I can smell the yucky pollutants. Yeah, yeah, I get
that the whole issue is in my head and know it isn't true but I just
can't help myself. Perhaps if I could see how they filter it I might be
a little more at ease but unless I get a job with the City I think that
might be off the table as far as options go. So I have been buying
bottled water but my phobia goes father then just the water I use to
drink, it is cooking water too and Bottled water isn't cheap. To make
a pot of Soup I might have to break into Rowans Education fund. I
just can't afford that and I also can't afford to have the truck drop by
at my house every week or so and drop off a jug of that Absopure
stuff so I needed to come up with a better plan and fast for Summer
is coming and I drink so much more then and Rowan will also be
drinking this year and if I am afraid to drink our water myself I surely
am not going to give it to her or Andrew. Lucky for me and the kids I
just got the chance to do a review for the Zero Water pitcher. Now
this puppy is cool and want to know something? Yes, since it started
at my own facet I could still imagine something being in it. Not sure
if I have some sort of Phobia or something but I know me and even
after using the pitcher I would fear for its safety so the people over
at Zero Water wanted to make sure I was confidant and send this little
gizmo that detects all that gunk I worried about. Now you guys thought
I was off my rocker but I took that little gizmo and tested my home
water and it read a 183.
YUCK!!! I was not off my rocker, that was the amount of dissolved
junk in my treated city tap water. NASTY! I would go wash my mouth
out but I am scared now! The TDS meter was the coolest little gadget
and we tested every single tap in the house then ran to the pitcher
and poured a glass

00

Can you believe it? I couldn't. What a difference! From 183 and I
took the same water and poured it in the pitcher and straight down
to 00! Not even a Zero point something. A 00. Andrew and I both
ran around the house and tested everything we could get our hands
on.

Kitchen Tap 183
Bathroom Tap 183
Shower 194
Hose 178 ( isn't that a hoot, the yard water is cleaner)
Laundry sink-eewwww, I won't even post. I wasn't even sure if the
TDS Meter could go that high. I honestly think that it makes a
difference where you get the water from in your house after using the
meter. It must have to do with Hygiene and factors like that for the
laundry sink was really bad but the kitchen and Bathroom tap were
at the same consistent number. Not a good one, but at least
they were together. We took water from both taps and poured it into
the pitcher and every time it dropped to zero. Now Andrew wanted
to keep going with the experiments and test more places you find water
in the house but I had to draw the line. He wanted to do both steps
of the experiment and not only use the meter but to pour it in the
pitcher as well and some how I knew I would be in the same
pickle I was before the pitcher. Instead of freaking out thinking the
tap water might have pollutants in it I would be stressing thinking that
Toilet water was in my pitcher at one point in time and had to take
the meter and put it up before that fear became a reality in Andrews
name of Science. Now that the meter was away I had some time to
check out the Pitcher itself.
First off I have to say it is a darn good looking one. It is sleek in
design and very modern and space ageish, keeping in perspective the
theme you can not make absolutely pure, clean water in your own home
without boiling it for 6 years. I loved the fact that it is super large
though still thin enough to fit comfortably on your shelf. The Pitcher
pours smoothly and evenly and that is another plus in my book form
there is nothing I hate worse then getting a start and stop pitcher.
You guys know what I am talking about, the kind who's lid never fits
right or turns easy and you only get a drizzle then you try to adjust it
and a waterfall comes out and you end up with a big mess to clean.
I have to be very careful to get those out of my house for Andrew is
King Mess without the added mess of the pitcher and if I have one of
those in the cupboard I will be mopping my kitchen floor every five
minutes. The Zero Water does not have that problem at all for there
is only one way to fit the lid and it fits perfect every single time and
pours like a dream! So we have a stylish, easy to pour, easy to
store pitcher. What else could there be?

Oh yeah, that filter thing!

The Zero Water Pitcher is the only water Pitcher that meets the
same FDA regulations as bottled water. That's how pure this is!
They owe it all to the Zero Waters 5 stage Ion Exchange filter system
that is far superior to any other on the market now. It is a Gravity
Pitcher so you just fill it from the top like you would a normal pitcher
and then it flows into the main base leaving you with clean, perfectly
filtered water that other people are popping out some cold hard cash
for at the corner store. You mean I don't have to get all geared up,
get Rowan all geared up, put on Animal Planet for Boo since I feel
guilty leaving her home alone and start up that Jalopy of mine and
drive to the over crowded store we all know I hate and plunk down
some hard earned funds to get a glass of fresh water? NO! I can
do all that at home and never even get out of my PJ's. I also know
when I am making bottles for Rowan or cooking at home I can just
pour from the Pitcher and not have to worry about the sewage that
comes out of my pipes. I would worry even more now that I know it
scored a 183. YUCK! I drank that!
I did try the kind you hook on the facet for a while but the
thing with that is it is hooked to a kitchen facet that is seldom clean
and often covered in soap for when Andrew, and John, do the dishes
they get a little carried away and over bubble. The suds were getting
up over that filter and though it wasn't often a lot on the faucet itself
I could still taste the soapy residue. Plus, eeeewwww on some of the
slimy stuff they put in the sink, that is enough to creep my out right
there knowing that that plates covered in mystery junk that had been
under Andrews bed since 1998 was that close to the filter. Another
one that is in my head and I am sure the slime does not travel but
it still makes me a little sick when I see it and I can't help but to
relate that to the facet. The Zero Water Pitcher is a stand alone device
that you keep right in your fridge so not only do you get clean, pure
water that in no way can be cross contaminated by other stuff in your
sink it is always cold. Take that on a hot Summer Day! This has got
to be one of the coolest things ever. Clean water so you will never
have to worry about he quality of the beverages your children are
drinking and a stylish pitcher that stays cold for you. No more trips
to the store a having to recycle those loads and loads of plastic bottles.
Fast to fill and easy to use. Nothing could be better!
Okay, one thing. Zero Water Pitcher is going to give one of my
readers a Pitcher of their own. To Enter just head over to the site
and take a look around then come back here and post what you have
learned in a comment. The contest will start tonight and run to April
15th at Midnight.

Ouchies Review and Giveaway!

I have been really lucky with Andrew in a lot
of ways. Though I had that little boy in the ER
at least 3 dozen times in the first year of his
life not one of those times he was there for a real
reason. Every single time I ran him in it was because
I was a first time Mom and just freaking out again. I
used to take him to a small Hospital instead of the
large one for the simple fact it was used mostly for
industrial reasons during the day and the wait there
was never more then 10 minutes. I also knew them pretty
well by the time Andrew was 2 or 3 from my constant visits!
Now when I rushed him there I was sure there was something
wrong with him. Convinced! Though now I know it was because
I read to many books on child ailments and would convince myself
this or that was wrong by comparing what the book said to how
Andrew was acting. Some of the reasons I took him in
were:
1. He fell and clunked his head and didn't cry. The book
said if a child doesn't cry or cries longer then 15
minutes something serious could be wrong. They never
bothered to mention sometimes they don't cry because
they are not really hurt.

2. I rushed him in because he had little white bumps all
over him and I thought they were some sort of bug bite
and was appalled a bug could be biting my baby. It turns
out sometimes fair skin little babies oil glands are not
always fully developed and its sorta like infant acne. DOH!

3. He ran a fever for 3 days straight of 100. Again, a book
said that wasn't all that high but if they had one for more
then a day or two it could be a sign of something worse. It
was, he was teething!

Those are pretty much are the types of reasons I had him in
there and it wasn't long before they knew me by name and
I am more then sure all they did was humor me and wait
to I had calmed down before sending me on my way. Only
twice did Andrew really need a doctor and one of those times
was because of a Doctor and what he did, not because Andrew was
ill on his own. It was a Sunday and during the HMO craze where you
had to take your child to a set place for set reasons and I thought
he had an ear infection. He was crying all day and pulling hard on
his ear. I rushed him to this Clinic the insurance people said I
had to use and told the doctor there my fear. He said Okay, never
even looked at Andrew and wrote me a prescription for Amoxicillin.
I explained that he was allergic. He asked if Andy had ever had it.
I told him no, but I was allergic and so was my mother. He told
me that it was an old wives tale that it ran in family's and Andy
would be fine. An hour later Andrew was having a really bad reaction
and that was time one he needed a Doctor and not the dummy who
gave me the Amoxicillin in the first place. The other time Andrew got
bit by a dog on his lip. Besides those two times that should have been
one for it was not even an ear infection it was teething and had
the doctor bothered to look, ugh! But besides that Andrew has never
in his life needed a Doctor. No injury's ( knock on my wooden head
here)or anything.

Rowan on the other hand is going to be my wild child. I can
already tell. So far she has avoided anything serious but she has
jumped out of her high chair and her walker and I have to keep a
constant eye on her for she is just one of those Baby's that will
always have to be-in the mix! She is the one who will deplete my
first aid kit daily and I will have to buy band-aids in bulk. When I
got the chance to do the next review I was all over it for I know
these are going to come in handy in a big way!
Ouchies! These Band are so cool looking your kids will forget why
they needed them in the first place! Now they offer the same protection,
same perks and benefits and keep your Boo Boo just as safe and allows
for them to heal just as nicely, so I have to ask myself, "Why don't all
band-aids look so cool?" They just rock and when I say that I mean
literally too for they have some that say "ROCK" right on them. They
also have some Skull and Crossbones guys, you know how I love things
that have skulls and crossbones for Rowan! She only appears all sweet
and innocent but Andrew and I know she has an agenda and Skull and
Crossbones clothing and items are the only way Mommy here can warn
the unsuspecting public! They have ones geared for the boys and some
geared for the girls but all of them are cool! In fact they are so cool
I would even wear them myself! Want more? You Betcha! For the little
ones they have MR Men and Little Miss. These are those famous
emotion faces for the tykes that let them show how they are feeling
and teach them how to relate to them as well. Still want more? You
Betcha again! They have a pack that you can design yourself. That's
right, no cutie little pictures and patterns here, you get right to the
point.

"Joe's left Finger!"
Big Baby Johns Paper Cut!"
"Rowan got a Boo Boo!"
"Mommy stubbed her toe chasing Rowan!"

or you can draw your own pictures and designs. I am pretty sure
Andrew would have all sorts of World Of War craft buggers! For Mom's
it is great too for you can even put the time or Date on it if you are
trying to keep track of the last time you cleaned it or put on antiseptic!
Each Pack comes with 20 Band aids, 4 of each design and are sure
to be a hit and it will not be long before even a slight scratch will
demand a band-aids for they are just that cute. The Styles are:

Designed just for Boys, 4 of each design: Flames, Blue Camouflage
with Lizards, Skeleton Tattoo, Rock Star & Dragons.Designed just for
Boys, this tin box has 20 adhesive bandages, 4 of each design: Mr.
Funny, Mr. Bump, Mr. Strong, Mr. Tickle & Mr. Happy

Designed just for Girlz, Hearts, “Girls Rule” Tattoo, Desserts & Doodle
and the MR. Men and Little Miss set Designed just for Girlz, this tin
box has 20 adhesive bandages, 4 of each design: Little Miss Chatterbox,
Little Miss Whoops, Little Miss Magic, Little Miss Giggles & Little
Miss Sunshine

For everyone they also have a Mr Men and Little Miss that includes
•Little Miss Sunshine
& Mr. Daydream •Mr. Messy & Little Miss Tidy
•Little Miss Chatterbox, Little Miss Shy & Mr. Noisy
•Little Miss Star, Mr. Happy, Mr. Perfect, Mr. Cheerful, Little Miss
Giggles & Little Miss Sunshine
•Little Miss Naughty, Little Miss Scary, Little Miss Bad, Little Miss
Trouble, Mr. Grumpy, Mr. Mischief, Mr. Rudy & Mr. Greedy.

And don't forget the Make your own that has This box is for those
kids who want to design their own bandages. Complete with 3 markers
(Blue, Red, Purple), this tin box comes with 20 adhesive bandages
in 5 colors (Blue, Pink, Purple, Green, Yellow). Any way you cut it
( groan, boo, I know!!) you are going to end up with one cool
Band aid. Even my Son who at 16 years of age would rather bleed
to death then put on a Band Aid wants to stash a few in his room,
just in case. My favorite thing about them though is the boys were
over and the middle Monster fell down and instead of throwing a huge,
mega, giant, mammoth, DID I SAY BIG? tantrum he was fixated on
the Band Aid and not the Boo Boo that would have been portrayed
as a life or death paper cut had we not had one of these Band
aids. Now all I need is a bag of Lolly pops and when the kids get
an ouchie they can cover it with one and grab a Lolly and get back
out and play! Ouchies sure makes the tears a lot more colorful here!
You just have to love that!
Another thing you have to have is a chance to win some Ouchies!
That's right guys, one reader will win their pick of two tin. To enter just
head over to the site and take a look around then come back here
and post what your favorite thing from their site is in a comment.
The contest will start tonight and run to Midnight on April 13th.

Review of More Mail Boxes.com

Now sometimes I come across a site
that has some products I love all on my own.
No review for the product, just something I
was browsing the web and stopped and went
"Woah, I have got to get me one of these!"
Now my mail man and I are not the best of
friends. When you get as much mail every week
as I do it doesn't matter what you do for him at
Christmas, your still on his list. Not the good one
either. What that boils down to for me is lots of
my stuff doesn't make the box for if it is even close
to an item that won't fit he tosses it on the porch.
I hate that for there is Indoor/outdoor carpeting there
and it holds dampness and seeps into my stuff.
I need a new box, a big one so he can't use that
excuse. So I went a shopping!

Now call me a dork but I really didn't think you
had a whole lot of choices when it came to mail
boxes. Wow, was I wrong. I found a store that all
they have is mailboxes and my goodness do they have
them. Some of the neatest ones I have ever seen!  I
just love the Mail Boxes at
Moremailboxes.com
Now the one I have settled on is a lot bigger then
mine now but that isn't the only reason this puppy was
my guy! It is one I can take with me when I move for
I don't have to have it permanently posted to the side
of my house and it just looks so cool. They style is one
where it would look good on a street curb or on a porch or
anywhere really. I never even knew you could get items like
this. Mine is a Step 2 and it holds a lot and is great for
large amounts of mail. I love the design of bricks without
the weight of a real brick and not only is it really durable it
clearly displays my address for right now I have to flag a
pizza guy down for it is just so hard to read. Another thing
I love about More Mail Boxes.com is they have user reviews
and I got a really good idea of what I was getting into before
I dropped some cash. The Mail box I picked has 24 reviews and
all are super informative and my boxes total score was a 4.3 out
of 5 stars. See, Michelle has taste!

Now this was not an easy choice even with the review
for there are zillions of boxes to pick from. The have Residential
and Commercial, ones on posts or ones you mount, locking and
recessed and more and that isn't even different styles, just the
category's! I totally fell in love with the Qualarc Manchester Column
Mounted Mailboxes but had to pass since I am moving soon but
you can bet your bottom dollar that is going to grace my yard some
day for it is just super quaint and beautiful.
Look at me, a mail box, beautiful. I never thought that
would come out of my mouth. The only time I thought a
mail box could be beautiful would be if some new shoes were
inside it!
More Mail boxes.com has all your accessory's as well including
letting and posts and locks and stands and anything else you
could want and all the top brands of boxes. They have your good
old fashioned plain boxes or the typical black one and the Special
Light ones are really classy with their antiquated styles. As filled
with old world charm as they are the Ecco fly your straight into
the future with the sharp lines and sleek styles. The Blomus is
even cooler. You guys have no idea how silly I feel yakking
about mail boxes being cool but I just could not help myself.
You have got to see these for yourself! All I need now is to
have a little guy stand next to the box and say, "you have
mail," whenever my mail guy comes! Now let's see how fast
I can fill this baby!

Dream Essentials Review and Giveaway!

Ugh! When I had Andrew he broke something
in me. I always roll my eyes when guys ramble on
about women and hormones but some of it is true
for after he was born, within a few months I started
to get Migraines. BAD! I would get them so bad I
would cover all the windows in the house with blankets
and lay on the bathroom floor since it was cold and cry
like a little baby. Andrew in one room crying, me in another.
Now I have been fortunate that they have decreased in their
severity for those first couple of years I would get a few
a month. That's a lot to bare and unless you suffer from true
Migraines you will never know how hard it is. You have the
day it knocks you out then you have the next where you
just feel like you have been ran over by a Mac Truck. You
are so weak you can barely move. All you can do is learn to
cope and one of the things I ended up doing was taking down
the blankets and getting a sleep mask.

Let's face it, blankets all over your windows is not very
attractive. And since I could not afford those window adhesives
that block out the light I had to figure something out. We are
talking about once a week or so I needed to find something that
was convenient to use, works good and does not make my home
look like an eye sore. So first a Doctor then a friend recommended
a Sleep Mask. Well, I think the Doctors words were pretty much
"I can't even make the headaches go away there little Missy but
next time you feel one coming on grab your self a cold pack and
cover your eyes. Just relax to it's over," and I don't think I need
to explain that he is no longer my doctor but I will give him credit
the cold pack and the mask do help. Now lucky for me as time went
on my headaches have grown less frequent and now I only get maybe
one or two a year and I have a Doctor that can treat them and medication
to combat it. Great strides in the medical world have been made
since the day I was told to just relax and the medicine I take does
something to my blood cells that just shuts it off and I really don't
need the mask but I have to tell you over the last ten, fifteen years
I have came to depend on it. The mask served for more then just
headache relief, I worked late nights and the mask blocked out the
sun so I could rest. It helped me relax by blocking out distractions.
The fact everything appeared blocked out was enough to trigger my
own body into thinking it was time to relax so no matter how rushed
or harried my life was I could still get some down time and I needed
that. Think of it as a Sensory Deprivation Tank without the pruned
fingers. I love them and I truthfully do not think I could sleep without
one. When the world whizzes by and you only have so much time to
relax you want to optimize that time and a sleep mask allows me to
do just that. I have owned about 2 dozen masks over the years for
various reasons:
Some are just not comfortable.
Some are poor quality and fall apart from normal
wear
Some are not made to fit properly and though work for a
normal person who just likes it dark, they do not rest well
on my face and when I have a headache they cause more
pain then offer relief.
Some were lost to a puppy
Some were just lost.
Some I used so much they eventually wore out and I needed
to replace them though I could never find the same mask again.
So I have learned I need these masks but finding good ones
that last and I can replace when needed has became my new
problem. Then recently, and this cracks me up for masks are not
a new item on my night stand, I came across Dream Essentials
and realized I need a mask for more then I thought I did for
they have items that make the ones I have been using look like
child's play. In fact these guys have sleep aids in general that
can take a die hard insomniac and allow them to sheer those
sheep for the warmest blanket because their products will have them
dozing before they count to one. Let's look at the masks to start
with for I am in slumber heaven here. They offer items that fit
great, last forever and have perks like Aromatherapy and Cold
Packs built right in. Masks that offer extra cover so no light at
all can sneak in, ones for children and Masks that are pretty for
I never even thought I could sneak in a little style on something
I considered a medical item. There are dozens of choices and
one for every need and if you have never tried to get a good night
sleep with a mask you owe it to yourself to try for it is truly
relaxing and you will see the quality of your sleep soar for when
you block out life's little annoyances and allow yourself to focus on
your own comfort and relaxation the difference you feel will be
staggering. I was sent the Dream Essence for review and also the
Butterfly. Both are completely different and offer a whole bunch of
special features and I have found myself using them both for different
reasons but one thing they both have in common for me right now
is I don't think I could live without either. The Dream Essence is
a silky soft mask I have been using for stressful days when I am
having a hard time unwinding. It is like Goodnight Tea or warm Milk
for your face. It has features such as:
100% light blocking for effective sleep and relaxation
Features a pocket for removable complimentary scented sachet
Mask secures around head with silky sheer Comfort Snug
And it is the sachet I want to tell you about. We all know aroma
theraphy works. It is a proven fact that scents offer us some
pretty wonderful benifets and the packet that comes with this mask
allows the user the chance to relax. You are lulled into a state
of bliss with the delightful smell and lavender and chamomile are
often used to encourage sleep and had me sawing lumber before
I knew it. This mask I used for those hectic days that I have a
problem shutting off and it is pretty much the next best thing to
sliced bread. Dreams are made of this mask, literally. The other mask
I recieved was the Butterfly and if I had this when that doctor told
me his advice 15 years ago I might not have thought him such a
Quack. The Monarch Butterfly Dreams Silk Eye Pillow relieves tired eyes,
and soothe sinuses and can be refridgerated to use as a cold pack.
With my sinus issues and this dry house I have often fallen victom to
a Migraine just because I was already combatting other issues and
was susecptable. The Butterfly is a theraputic mask that helps
reverse those problems and pressue and leaves me better able to
cope and is perfect for blocked sinus passages and pressue build
up. I have slept with this mask when I could feel a headache comming
on but I got to tell you, when I feel the tension start to build I
grab this baby from the fridge and slip into a super hot tub
and relax with this and when I am done I feel like a whole other
woman. It just works so well I have been driving John nuts for
I am determined to have a garden tub to go with the mask now
that I found out how much I enjoy it. I pretty much do not care
how he gets the tub or where we have to move to get one
but this mask deserves a tub that is as comfortable and cozy
and relaxing as it is. Both of the masks I reviewed are head
over feet better then any of the DOZENS of masks I have went
through over the years and I am tickled pink to have found
dream essentials. I can't wait to get my hands on the Contoured
or Sweet Dreams for they are fitted and I think they would serve
spectacular for my every day needs. Not sure what mask is for
you or have never tried and need some help getting your feet
wet? Here is the thing I really found cool about Dream Essentials,
they have a guide. Each mask you look at has a little leagond
under the discription that explains who would benifet most from
the mask. It tells you details like made for a side sleeper,
washable, ear plugs and anything else you would need help with
when you are trying to choose the mask best for you. Unlike
me and the years of trial and error I spent learning what worked
for me, it is all right there for you and they just took the
guess work out. Since I have tried a lot if differant styles I took
some time to go over thier suggestions to see if I found them
accurate and they hit the nail right on the head for each varitety
of sleep mask I have ever tried. Well, other then the super
cheap crappy ones for they just didn't have any of those and trust
me when I first started wearing a mask to sleep I tried more then a
few of those. So if you have issues getting some rest,
headaches or sinus problems or work an odd shift I suggest you
check out the masks for Dream Essentials has a selection that
will keep you rested and comfortable for a long time to come and
a lot of times when I do a review for you guys I am learning about
a product right a long with you. This time it is something I know
a lot about and hope that I can save you some of the bad choices
I have made over the years for the masks here are top notch.
Now I am not done for neither is Dream Essentials for
these guys offer a whole lot more then just sleep masks. Dream
Essentials also carries Sound Conditioners, Body Pillows, Ear Plugs
and items for Travel. Foot Cozys and Heatable Slippers, oh, my,
I think I am in love! I am hoping to get my hands on a lot more
products from these guys to review for you for I never knew there
were so many items to make your life more relaxing and these
guys are like the bedroom Mecca when it comes to comfort
and a lot of these items are now on my "Must Have" list!
Did you know they make a speaker that goes right in your pillow?
How cool is that? The Book Light is one that is not a cheap old
clip on that breaks in days at my house but, oh, heck, you have
got to see it! It just slips on the side of the page and rocks.
I have got to have the Sunrise Alarm Clock for instead of being
jarred awake in the wee hours of the morning and being crabby
all day this clock is like the sunrise and step by step brings you
out of your deep slumber their other products put you in. Go to
bed sweetly, sleep deeply and wake up refreshed and revitalized.
I am hooked! The Body Pillow? To die for! I just can't get
enough of this store and now that I am well rested I have the
energy to do so!
