Michigan has more lakes then you can shake a stick at.
We are even blessed with 4 or the 5 great ones and Lake
Superior is Huge, Cold and some of the cleanest water I
have ever seen. We used to have friends that had a Summer home
in Copper Harbor, that would be the furthest point you can
go North in Michigan and resides on a Peninsula that juts
out right into Lake Superior. Now as much as I love the water
and my Grandparents swore I was part fish, I only went swimming
in that lake maybe twice in my whole life. It is just too cold.
Bitter cold and even in August you can swear ice cubes are
floating by. It is so clear you can see straight to the
bottom even in depths of 50 feet of more. If you have never
visited you should for it is not only breathtaking they
offer some of the most interesting and fantastic scenic views
and vacation destinations there are. The State Parks alone in
that part of Michigan are worth the trip. The amount of water
that Lake Superior provides, staggering! And it all flows down
to us lower Michiganders in the form of Michigan, Huron and
other lakes and streams. In fact you can not go more then a
couple of miles in any direction in Michigan without running
into water of some sort. You would think that with all
that water Michigan would have some of the best drinking
water in the World.
You would be wrong!
Lot's of places in Michigan rely on their own wells and those
that are lucky enough to be hooked up to a City system are
blessed with water that comes from places like the Detroit River.
As clean and fresh as Superior is, the Detroit River flows a
whole other direction. Nasty! We used to ride a boat to
an Amusement park in Michigan called Boblo and I swear when
you looked at that water while in route you would swear you didn't
need the boat you could just walk across for the water itself it is that
thick with debris and trash and just plain old Polluted. A lot
of people would never dare to swim in it let alone drink from
it for, YUCK! That gross! I am one of those people lucky enough
to be hooked into the Cities Water System too!
Happy Happy Joy Joy
Now I know that the water I see is not the water I drink. I
understand that. I realize all water goes through a massive treatment
system and is purified of any contaminators and even has extra goodness
added to it for health purposes. I know I am not downing a glass of
pollutants and that nasty, disgusting, algae laden water that was so
thick with pollutants you could walk on has been replaced with fresh,
clean and pure water that is supposed to be just as good if not better
then any bottled water you can buy. I understand that completely. But
it does not change the fact every time I get a glass from the kitchen
sink all I can think about is sewage. Every time I raise the glass to
my lips I swear I can smell the yucky pollutants. Yeah, yeah, I get
that the whole issue is in my head and know it isn't true but I just
can't help myself. Perhaps if I could see how they filter it I might be
a little more at ease but unless I get a job with the City I think that
might be off the table as far as options go. So I have been buying
bottled water but my phobia goes father then just the water I use to
drink, it is cooking water too and Bottled water isn't cheap. To make
a pot of Soup I might have to break into Rowans Education fund. I
just can't afford that and I also can't afford to have the truck drop by
at my house every week or so and drop off a jug of that Absopure
stuff so I needed to come up with a better plan and fast for Summer
is coming and I drink so much more then and Rowan will also be
drinking this year and if I am afraid to drink our water myself I surely
am not going to give it to her or Andrew. Lucky for me and the kids I
just got the chance to do a review for the Zero Water pitcher. Now
this puppy is cool and want to know something? Yes, since it started
at my own facet I could still imagine something being in it. Not sure
if I have some sort of Phobia or something but I know me and even
after using the pitcher I would fear for its safety so the people over
at Zero Water wanted to make sure I was confidant and send this little
gizmo that detects all that gunk I worried about. Now you guys thought
I was off my rocker but I took that little gizmo and tested my home
water and it read a 183.
YUCK!!! I was not off my rocker, that was the amount of dissolved
junk in my treated city tap water. NASTY! I would go wash my mouth
out but I am scared now! The TDS meter was the coolest little gadget
and we tested every single tap in the house then ran to the pitcher
and poured a glass
00
Can you believe it? I couldn't. What a difference! From 183 and I
took the same water and poured it in the pitcher and straight down
to 00! Not even a Zero point something. A 00. Andrew and I both
ran around the house and tested everything we could get our hands
on.
Kitchen Tap 183
Bathroom Tap 183
Shower 194
Hose 178 ( isn't that a hoot, the yard water is cleaner)
Laundry sink-eewwww, I won't even post. I wasn't even sure if the
TDS Meter could go that high. I honestly think that it makes a
difference where you get the water from in your house after using the
meter. It must have to do with Hygiene and factors like that for the
laundry sink was really bad but the kitchen and Bathroom tap were
at the same consistent number. Not a good one, but at least
they were together. We took water from both taps and poured it into
the pitcher and every time it dropped to zero. Now Andrew wanted
to keep going with the experiments and test more places you find water
in the house but I had to draw the line. He wanted to do both steps
of the experiment and not only use the meter but to pour it in the
pitcher as well and some how I knew I would be in the same
pickle I was before the pitcher. Instead of freaking out thinking the
tap water might have pollutants in it I would be stressing thinking that
Toilet water was in my pitcher at one point in time and had to take
the meter and put it up before that fear became a reality in Andrews
name of Science. Now that the meter was away I had some time to
check out the Pitcher itself.
First off I have to say it is a darn good looking one. It is sleek in
design and very modern and space ageish, keeping in perspective the
theme you can not make absolutely pure, clean water in your own home
without boiling it for 6 years. I loved the fact that it is super large
though still thin enough to fit comfortably on your shelf. The Pitcher
pours smoothly and evenly and that is another plus in my book form
there is nothing I hate worse then getting a start and stop pitcher.
You guys know what I am talking about, the kind who's lid never fits
right or turns easy and you only get a drizzle then you try to adjust it
and a waterfall comes out and you end up with a big mess to clean.
I have to be very careful to get those out of my house for Andrew is
King Mess without the added mess of the pitcher and if I have one of
those in the cupboard I will be mopping my kitchen floor every five
minutes. The Zero Water does not have that problem at all for there
is only one way to fit the lid and it fits perfect every single time and
pours like a dream! So we have a stylish, easy to pour, easy to
store pitcher. What else could there be?
Oh yeah, that filter thing!
The Zero Water Pitcher is the only water Pitcher that meets the
same FDA regulations as bottled water. That's how pure this is!
They owe it all to the Zero Waters 5 stage Ion Exchange filter system
that is far superior to any other on the market now. It is a Gravity
Pitcher so you just fill it from the top like you would a normal pitcher
and then it flows into the main base leaving you with clean, perfectly
filtered water that other people are popping out some cold hard cash
for at the corner store. You mean I don't have to get all geared up,
get Rowan all geared up, put on Animal Planet for Boo since I feel
guilty leaving her home alone and start up that Jalopy of mine and
drive to the over crowded store we all know I hate and plunk down
some hard earned funds to get a glass of fresh water? NO! I can
do all that at home and never even get out of my PJ's. I also know
when I am making bottles for Rowan or cooking at home I can just
pour from the Pitcher and not have to worry about the sewage that
comes out of my pipes. I would worry even more now that I know it
scored a 183. YUCK! I drank that!
I did try the kind you hook on the facet for a while but the
thing with that is it is hooked to a kitchen facet that is seldom clean
and often covered in soap for when Andrew, and John, do the dishes
they get a little carried away and over bubble. The suds were getting
up over that filter and though it wasn't often a lot on the faucet itself
I could still taste the soapy residue. Plus, eeeewwww on some of the
slimy stuff they put in the sink, that is enough to creep my out right
there knowing that that plates covered in mystery junk that had been
under Andrews bed since 1998 was that close to the filter. Another
one that is in my head and I am sure the slime does not travel but
it still makes me a little sick when I see it and I can't help but to
relate that to the facet. The Zero Water Pitcher is a stand alone device
that you keep right in your fridge so not only do you get clean, pure
water that in no way can be cross contaminated by other stuff in your
sink it is always cold. Take that on a hot Summer Day! This has got
to be one of the coolest things ever. Clean water so you will never
have to worry about he quality of the beverages your children are
drinking and a stylish pitcher that stays cold for you. No more trips
to the store a having to recycle those loads and loads of plastic bottles.
Fast to fill and easy to use. Nothing could be better!
Okay, one thing. Zero Water Pitcher is going to give one of my

Nourish!
When Andrew was a Baby I had two choices for
baby bottles! Plastic or those baggies. That was
it. No fancy tilted bottles, no air vents, no new
line technology or advancements. Plastic or
Baggies. At the time I didn't know any
better for that is all there was. Of coarse 16
years ago a lot of things were different. No way
could you serve your child cold or room temperature
formula. Forget washing Bottles with an anti-
bacterial soap or putting them in the dishwasher
and do not think for one second you can store the
left over formula in the refrigerator for a few hours.
Everything I just listed was a huge No, NO and would merit
you a 4 hour lecture from your Mother in Law.
In fact, today, if you break one of those sacred rules in
public and anyone over the age of 55 sees you,
your going to hear it too! Rowan is only 6 months
old and I can't count the amount of times I have
been scolded by sweet little Grandmotherly
types for letting her stand. She is going to be
bowlegged don't ya know!
Now when Rowan was born I was dumbstruck.
Literally. I stood in the isle at Babies R US and felt
my mouth hit the floor. There must have been close
to a 100 different types of bottles. Each one with bright
screaming announcement proclaiming that they are the
one for me! As I went up the isle to check out them all
and found the price tags went up too. WOW, Who has a
wallet fat enough to drop 20 bucks on a bottle because
the neck tilts! Do you know how many bottles we have
lost around here already? I should say the bottles John
and I have lost since we can't pass that buck onto a baby
who has yet to stand up and walk out of the room. They
have straps to prop them up, labels to let you know
if the contents are too hot, ones that play music and
ones that offer fancy designs and others that proclaim
they are old school and glass is not in the past. Ones
that come complete with a nanny and a lullaby band.............Okay,
so I am reaching here but you get the point. What I want to
know is why don't they have ones that come with the water
in them so you can just toss them in your purse and when
Junior is fuss-in for dinner you can just add some formula
and go? You know, sealed little babies where you don't have to
keep changing the water and just leave them in the
diaper bag and not worry about a thing? Ones that you
know are safe and you don't have to worry about the water
quality or that the bottle is dirty and Junior will get sick?
How about a product that was made right here in the
good old U.S.A? What, you mean they do?
Meet Nourish. A brand new way to feed your baby or
give your toddler something to drink. One that is long overdue.
What they do is take some of the best spring water this
planet has to offer and bottle it in a safe BPA free bottle
that is compact without losing its volume and sealing it
so it is always fresh. What you do is toss it in your bag
along with some single serve packs of your babies formula
and go. No fuss, no muss and nothing to worry about.
The formula is always fresh, the water is never stale
and as long as you know it is in your bag you don't have
to worry about packing anything else. Well, Diapers
ya know for what goes in.........................a lot at my
house!
When Nourish asked if I would like to do the review I
was Gung Ho Away we GO! This was a review that affected
me a lot for I cringe every single time John leaves the houses
with the baby. Did I pack enough? Are the lids on tight?
Will he lose another 20 dollar bottle? How long will he really
be gone for those bottles are only good so long. I tried just packing
empty bottles with the formula packs but think, if a man can
not find the Milk that has always been on the same spot on
the top shelf for the last 5 year, what are the odds he will find
water in a strange place? Yeah, that's what I thought.
I loved the fact these were sealed so I knew they were fresh, I
really loved the fact the water was right there already and sent
John and Rowan off confidant even he couldn't screw this one
up. I didn't care if they were gone all day. I knew I had them
covered!
RING RING..................
"Hello?"
"Yeah, a, Michelle, Where did you put that formula pack at?"
"In the zipper pocket John, the only zipper Pocket in the
bag and they are the only thing in there!"
" Yeah, ah, where is that pocket again?"
"On the outside of the bag. There are two sides, one with a
pocket, one with out.""
"What side?"
CLICK.................................
Okay, not all of you guys deal with what I have to deal with but
the point is for normal folks Nourish works like a charm!
Now I am borderline Hoarder and can't throw a thing away
and choose to save the bottles but you don't have to.Once you
are done you can just toss them in recycling bin. What's my tag
line here, No fuss, no muss! They also have the bottles that come
with the sippy cup attachment so it is just as cool for Juniors
older brother or sister as it is Junior. Now my Nephews would
never be caught drinking straight water so how about picking up
some of those single serve Crystal Light packages or Koolaid.
Problem solved and still, No Fuss, No Muss! How cool! I love it
and give it a big old TWO NO FUSS NO MUSS Thumbs up!
Nourish knows that some of you have Husbands almost as
bad as John and sometimes even us super Moms need a break and
wants to give one of my readers of gift pack with their products!

Now these guys didn't have to send me a product to
review but they did! Wow, DID THEY! I have been dancing
around the house all day like a fruitcake. You see, it started about
five years ago, well, really 25. Where I used to live we had the
worst tasting water in the world. Could have just been plumbing
but the point is I could not gag this stuff down. To make matters
worse I spent me summers in our home on Black Lake and there
we had a well. GROSS! So water has always been an issue for
me.
As soon as I had a job I started buying bottled water. In those
days they did not have the selection they do now. I was an Evian girl
and proud of it. For 15 years I would drink Evian every single day.
My thing was to stop in the morning and grab a big bottle for work
and then on the way home do it again. I was still too young to learn
about warehouse stores so I did the 7-11 thing and Evian got to be
a pretty expensive habit. I took a road trip about 6 years ago and
made a stop somewhere in the middle of nowhere to grab a bottle
of water and these people did not have Evian. I thought I would
die, first from thirst and second from a heart attack due to the
temper tantrum I was having.
The guy was watching me dancing around huffing and puffing
about how it was just my luck to be stuck in the middle of no where
and dropped into the stone ages. He timidly raised his hand like I
was a school teacher or something ( note to self: ask son if I am
really that intimidating when angry?) and informed me that they
did carry other bottled waters.
"Really," Grunt! " What kind!" Sarcastic sneer.
"Um, we got some of that fizzy stuff and some of that colored
mountain one too. Oh, and some stuff we got by mistake."
"Really!" I am rolling my eyes here. Wow, I really am mean
when I am mad. " Colored mountains and fizzy waters, where
are they?"
"In that refrigerator by the bathroom."
"Water near the bathroom, Perfect!"
I marched over to the cooler where all the rows of
water sat next to fishing worms and minnows and saw
the fizzy was Perrier and that colored mountain was
blue mountain. Great, I hate them both. All they had
was one more choice and I had never heard of it before.
In fact I had never even seen Fiji water before and its
square bottle. Did they have a well out back and were
pulling some sort of Jedi mind trick? Fiji? Huh? Do
they even have water down there that isn't salt?
Is Fiji even down there? Does it matter it is my
only choice.
I grabbed it, payed and stormed out the door. Andrew
and a friend of mine were in the car when I tossed them their
sodas and slammed down my bottle. I pulled out the map
to see how far to the next sign of life and twisted off the cap.
Next thing I know I am shoving the map back into the glove
box and heading back into the store.
"Do you sell coolers here?"
"Um, yeah. We got those styrofoam jobs with the lid."
"Where are they?"
"Over there on the wall by the Deer feed and salt licks."
Do you know he has the nerve to say all that with a straight
face?
I marched over and grabbed a cooler. "You sell ice?"
"Yeah, its over down there by the Vole poison."
WHAT IN GODS NAME IS A VOLE?
It didn't matter I was walking to it and grabben a bag
of ice out of a cooler that is older then the combined age
of the nearest rest home. Then a marched back over and
(wait, is this where I heard the Banjo's-Ha ha) and cleaned
out the entire stock of that Fiji water. It was that good,
the fact that the next store might only have Koolaid had
nothing to do with it.
After that day I was hooked on Fiji. I know just about
every store in the Tri-County area that has it and I live
with two boys. Well, one man and one boy but fact is
they are of the male gender and that means if there is
something in the fridge I want they will eat it first. Now
I want you to come over here and ask those boys what
happens to them if they drink my Fiji ( my son did it once)
and you will be able to watch them right before your very
eyes turn an un-natural shade of white and start to shake
all over. They will lower their eyes and mumble to the
floor. "Don't talk about the Fiji." and scamper away.
That is how serious I am about my Fiji water. When
I spoke to the nice lady Grace from Fiji I told her a
little about my obsession and how my son knows
better then to touch my Fiji and so does my Husband
and how I plan to raise Rowan the same way and she
laughed and send she will send them some samples too.
Now as a review Blogger when a person says sample
that is just what they mean. Most of the time is a few of
an item and once in a great while you end up with a case
on your doorstep. That's fine. When I agree to review a lot
of those places it is because someone here or I know asked
me to find out if it was any good so I didn't set out to do it
for my benefit. I am just used to getting a couple of something
and seldom think about it any more. Plus, Bottled water is
more expensive then Soda Pop any more and I thought
when she said she would send some for the boys and Rowan
I was getting a couple of bottles each.
Next, my UPS man and I love each other. I have known
him for 10 years and he is super good to me. I see him just about
every day for at least 4 times a week I get a couple of packages.
Today I hear him pull up and run down the stairs. By the time I
grab the baby and get there most of the time he is to the porch.
Today he was still unloading.
WOW
There were a couple of packages and then boxes.

"Michelle, wake up! Are you okay I think you passed out!"
There were five cases of Fiji water line up inside my living room
door. Can you believe that? I couldn't and have the bump to
prove it! This has got to be the coolest Company ever! I mean
really I have never in my whole life been so impressed with
a company. Now I don't have to tell you guys what I think
about the taste. I think my little story covers it but in case some
of you didn't understand my feelings on the water I will say it
again.
It is awesome! Truthfully. I know some people don't think there
is a difference from one bottled water to the next but there is.
I have tried every brand for the house when it was on sale
and tried them here and there but I always go back to my Fiji.
I don't know if it makes sense to you guys but Fiji water is
just sweeter to me. A different consistency. It tastes like you
would want water to taste if you had a Genie bottle and could
tell them how it should. I am a Fiji fan to the end and I will sell
my husband to buy it should I have to. So I think I have my
feelings on the taste pretty well covered.
What I want to tell you is how I feel about the company.
Impressed does not do how I feel justice. I know it doesn't seem
like all that big of a deal but it is. I worked for Corporate America
for 17 years in a related field and let me tell you those buggers are
cheap on the whole. Part of my job was how not to give you free
food even if your dinner was a wreck. Make um pay anyway, is
the saying but in truth when a person pays 20 for just the entree
they would like to enjoy it. These guys are a big company too
but do not have the same philosophy as others. They had no idea
what I was going to say, they do not pay me so they can't control my
mouth. That is why a lot of company's send out a small sample for
reviews. If the review goes bad they are not out much. Also,
this is a lot of money worth of product to take such a risk on. I am
not Eprize and do not have to market this nice for them. I could do
anything to award the prize they offered for they never stipulated.
All they wanted was for me to taste it and tell you how I felt.
Good or bad, they rolled the dice and took a chance and did not
know how I felt until after the details were worked out.To me,
it shows a company that cares and is looking to improve itself
by getting honest feedback and it does not matter how much it
costs them they want the truth so they can provide the best product
possible for you guys. Now that is a company I can stand behind.
The fact that they are green and dedicated to the environment makes
it even better. They are even the first carbon negative company in
the industry. But I regress. I wanted you to know it tastes good!
It does! I personally wanted you to know how impressed I am with them.
I told you!
Now it is your turn. Fiji is giving the same deal to one of you guys.
One of my readers will win a 5 cases of 500 ml bottles. They will
bring it right to your door and I already feel bad for your UPS
driver. To enter I would like you to go to their site and tell me something
you have learned. It doesn't matter if it is about the water or the Company,
just a tidbit of info. The contest will run daily and start today, December
11th and run to January 12th at midnight. The winner will be notified by
email and have 72 hours to contact me. As always you can earn an extra
entry by entering the contest of the day.
Oh, and please don't tell my son and husband they sent five cases. They
think there is only 1! I did share that one though! *
