Double Trouble is the Second book in a Series
featuring PJ Sugar, a struggling apprentice to a
Private Detective with as much luck in the love and
family department as she has in her budgeting skills.
I didn't get a chance to read the first installment but
found the second a light hearted quirky ride leaving
one think the life of of Private Detective though
dangerous, could end up being a load of fun.

The Book starts with PJ returning to her home
town and back into the mix with an old boyfriend and
new family members. The hard time she is having
understanding her new brother in law and his family is
surpassed by her doubts and inability to decipher her own
heart. Instead of coping she immerses herself in her work
and takes an undercover job that is supposed to advance
her career to find time to put her personal life in perspective.
It isn't long before she finds she is over her head and the
little job turns into a big caper with danger at every turn.
The Chemistry between her boss and her is unmistakable
and the woman they are protecting deceitful and all end
up taking you on a delightful journey where you won't know
your destination to you arrive. Though it would have been
nice to read the first book for a few times I struggled, my
overall impression of the book was a good one and I
enjoyed the ride. Susan May Warren is two books into a great
career and I can't wait to see what sort of trouble is next!

John says: I was a little hesitant to read the book at
first for the intro said this was a really famous person
and I had never heard of him. It made me think for I
thought I knew a lot about sports and to not recognize
the name gave me the impression he was just trying
to cash in on who he knew.
After reading it however, I was impressed. I learned
a lot and understand how it is just about as hard for
a person like him to make it in the field as it is a kid
who slams a good ball at our local High School. I liked
the fact the story was told from the heart and was light
and even funny and was very easy to relate to. Better
yet I loved all the inside details of what they really do
and I realized it isn't just something every guy would like
to do but a real job. He also rubbed elbows with a lot of
who's who in the sports world and though I thought that
would be a reason I didn't like the book the way he told
it made it a reason I liked it even more!
I say home-run!


Michelle says; Well I didn't know anything about sports
going into the book and now that I read the book I still
don't like sports but I did like the story. It is one of
those touching heart felt jobs that have you rooting
for the little guy and if that is how sports fans feel when
routing for their team I can relate a little better! I loved
the struggle to the top and it makes me nostalgic for a
time in American history when hard work paid off!
I don't know any cute sport cliche's to add like John
did but I say it was a good read for even people who
don't follow the game. It would also make a great gift!

Summery: A book jammed packed full of

loads of useless information to pass the
time!

Mom Says: When I saw the book I knew my son
would love it. Not because I thought it was his
taste in books but because of the name alone.
Crazy Immature Stuff, why that smacks of teenage
boys and what would amuse them. When I went
through it I realized it has some pretty darn useful
information and they phrase it in a smart alecky
teenage way and I can really see the attraction. Now
relax Mom and Dad the book is harmless and does
nothing to instill bad manors and you will still recognize
your angel once he has read this. Nothing in the book
is rude or will encourage trouble it is more of a busy
book filled with loads of harmless things to do and
loads of trivia. They might even learn something
without realizing it! The part I really liked is they
highlight things kids don't like and give you funny
ways to deal with them like the chore avoidance
checklist but it also give them a feeling of the other
side of the coin by asking them what they would do
if they were in charge. A kind of make you think, shoe
on the other foot deal.
My final word-I really loved it and think it would be
great for boys aged 8-18.


Teen says: I really liked this book a lot more then the
last book I reviewed. That book was like a self help
this is like looking at your self in the mirror and some
of the crazy thoughts that go through my head. It is a
boredom buster and I keep mine in the living room for
when I am once again forever waiting for my mother to
be ready to leave instead of twiddling my thumbs I just
flip through this. Some parts are pretty darn funny and
some of the things they have in here I write down any
ways and this just gives me a cool place to put it so
I don't have to bust my hand with too much writing. I can
see some of my younger cousins ready it and I got into
it but I am not sure how many guys older them me would
admit to reading it. I am also a sucker for books like
this!
Mom says I need to add a final word so mine is -Pretty
Cool, but if you have a sister hide it for she could use
some of the stuff against you!

Mom Says: This is like the other Dude book in the
sense it is filled with lots of fun facts and things
to do! The thing I found cute is the lock on the
cover but I am not sure what Andrew will think of it.
This would make a great busy book for the car or any
place where they might be bored other wise or if you
have a child that is artsy or just likes to read. I thought
it would make a great gift for a boy who you really have
no idea what their tastes are for I don't think you could
go wrong with this. It has something for everyone. I really
liked that it promotes creativity and I could really see
this being a huge hit for a child aged 7-12 and would
keep them busy for a long time.
My final word- Loved it, perfect gift and perfect to buy
yourself a little peace and slow down a busy boy!

Teen Says: Dude! it says Dairy on the cover! That
is a hard thing to get past. I got to give them props
though for if you have the guts to open it the book
was pretty book and a lot like the other one if you
forget the lock. This one gives you more space to
write things and more activities and not as many
bits of trivia but you can tell they are by the same
guy, or Dude! I liked it but would never have bought
it if I had seen the title first. The other book is more
appealing when you look at the cover this one gave
me the Heebie Jeebies at the word Dude. Okay, I
will fess up, I had some fun messing with the lock
but if my friends ever knew I would not hear the end
of it. My Cousins would really like the whole deal
though, name and all. For me if the cover wasn't there
I would take it to school with me for something to do
when I was bored for the front off all my folders are
all filled up and this is great for the kinds of stuff I
draw and write there. Cool Designs though.
My Final Word- Love the content, hate the name.
Wish it were more notebook sized so it was more easy
to write in but I will use it.

Tropical Traditions

I received this product for review a few weeks
ago and just did not know what to do with it. I have been
in a kitchen for most of my life and I have never heard of
this used before. Now remember, I have been at home for
over 5 years now so anything that has hit the scene after
that I am clueless. I wanted to find the perfect recipe that
would complement coconuts sweet taste. My fear was if
I used this oil for something such as fried chicken the
flavor would seep into the chicken. As much as the idea of
Coconut chicken appeals to me I think I would like the
Coconut toasted and breaded on it like shrimp not
fried in it. I thought about using it for some of Andy's
Tai Food Recipes but I really don't care for that and
really don't like to give a review where I have not personally
taken part. It is my name on the line. Even with the children's
items I get down and dirty with them and the toys and for
all clothing items, even if someone else is wearing it, I pull,
stretch and repeatedly wash it. I want to know if I am getting
my money out of a product before I tell you to go buy it.
I also say no to people who ask me to review an item I am
pre-disposed not to like for I hate being negative. But this
coconut oil, it just sounded interesting and I knew there
was a perfect use for it and I needed to find out what that
was.
Well I found out and now I feel like a fool. You can
use Coconut oil for just about anything you would use
corn or vegetable or olive oil for. Why wouldn't you? Corn,
other vegetables and Olives are all wildly different in taste
and you can't tell the difference there so why would you
with Coconut oil? Well, you can a little, your food just tastes
a little lighter and no so weighted down and heavy. I do
not know why I was hesitant and it wasn't until my neighbor
told me to just use it that I took the plunge. What I learned
from her is Coconut oil was popular to cook with for a long time
before World War two and it was common place but then
after the War started it was just too costly to import and fell
out of favor. After the War a new generation had came to
know Vegetable Oils and Corn Oils since we could produce
it here and it was dirt cheap and people were too busy rebuilding
their lives to take the time to get reacquainted with the
Coconut oil. What a shame too for WOW, I really feel like
I was missing out on something after I tasted it.

After my Neighbor told me that I had to fact check
for it isn't that I don't trust her but like I said before it is
my name I am posting on these little tid bits so I had to be sure.
What she said was not only true there is a lot more I didn't know
that she didn't tell me about. Like nuts the Fat content in
Coconuts is a good fat we need in our diets so unlike other
oils it is actually good for you to eat it. Coconut oil is
also good for;
Promoting your heart health
Promoting weight loss
Supporting your immune system
Supporting a healthy metabolism
Providing you with an immediate energy source
Helping to keep your skin healthy and youthful looking
Your thyroid gland
All these things I listed are great reasons to use
it but unlike my Grandfather and his jug of Cod Liver Oil
that he swore by and forced himself to drink a glass
every night and as he drank it you would tell by his face how
disgusting it was , this makes your food taste good! The last
thing you will be doing is making one of the faces my grandfather
made. I am sure your face will be 100 percent the other way
for this is not your Grandfathers Cod liver Oil.

All of the information I have told you thus far I got on
my own. I just pulled out some Library books and searched
the net but I didn't think the Library would have information
on what would be a great dish to make with Tropical Traditions
Coconut Oil so I was once again stumped. I kept thinking
of what I said about coconut chicken and wondered if that
would really be good, thought I might take a look around
and I found something else interesting. When you fry with
Coconut Oil it has a higher Smoke point and that means
the oil lasts longer before it gets all burned and yucky.
This makes it perfect for cooking fried foods of any kind
and now that I talked myself into it here is what I made.

Coconut Chicken

Need:
4 chicken cutlets. You can cut into strips if you like.
With small children I would recommend that you do
for they tend to all love Chicken Strips and that is
how I got Andy to try Chicken Prepared a ton of different
ways.
2 egg
2 c. bread crumbs
Salt, pepper, thyme to taste
2 c. shredded coconut
Cooking oil ~this is where I substituted coconut oil

To Cook Chicken:

Add salt, pepper, and thyme to egg.
Beat well. Coat chicken pieces with egg.
Mix bread crumbs and coconut in a plastic bag.
Add chicken pieces - several at a time - to the bag
and shake until well coated.
Cook chicken in hot oil until golden brown. Turn as needed.

I served this normally with a sweet and sour sauce at
home but I got to wondering if I was going with a theme
why not go all the way. So instead of the sauce I normally
make here is what I did instead.

1 cup coconut milk
2 cups milk
3 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 cup toasted coconut flakes


Directions:

Combine the milks in a saucepan over medium
heat until the mixture just starts to boil.
Add in the flour, one teaspoon at a time,
until it starts to thicken slightly.

Once it's thick like a pudding add the toasted
coconuts and lower the heat.

Lastly, stir in the sugar and cinnamon
and add more or less to taste

For the rest of the dinner I served some Apple Fruit salad
and Sweet Potato French Fries you can now buy in the
freezer section at the grocery store. McCain makes a good
one

I want to say I was surprised at how it turned out
but in truth as I was cooking I could tell it was going to
be good for just the fact it cooked clean, not at all like
when I normally cook fried chicken of any kind and
the whole house ends up smelling like oil. I was amazed,
however, that I could reuse the oil for another batch.
Every time I fry chicken I swear I am going to filter it and
use it the next time to save money and every single time
I end up tossing it for it is always scalded and nasty looking
when I was done. The fact this cooked so clean left me
with a pan of oil that I could almost get by without straining.


All in all I was very impressed with Tropical Traditions
Coconut Oil. I feel bad I procrastinated as long as I did
to try and cook with it, I would have found out a few
weeks ago how great it was and had plenty of more recipes
to share by now. I am doubly mad I didn't do the research sooner
for the fact alone that it is great for weight loss would have
prompted me to move a whole lot faster for anything low in
calories and helps to burn them too boot is always on the
top of my list since I am perpetually on a diet. I like to think of
the Health benefits as just an added perk to this wonder oil
and it really doesn't even make the top five reasons I will keep
using this now that I have used and tasted it. I mean health
benefits are important but I would like to stress the fact you
should not buy it for that reason alone for taste is always the
most important part of a meal. It is no fun reaping health benefits
when you have to choke something down like my Grandfather did.
Too bad I didn't know about Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil
when he was still alive for that "Good Old Farm Boy" would
have been tickled pink he could have back his fried
foods my Grandmother Vetoed after his heart attack.

My finial verdict on the Oil?
Why I am "Nuts" about it!

Hey there cooking marvels. This week's
recipe is something I have made at home for
years. My Grandmother was 100% Irish and her
Birthday was within a day of St. Patricks Day.
This was always a blow out at our house. Once
I got my drivers license I would always end up
spending that day driving tipsey Senior Citizens
home for they celebrated a little too much.


Grandma always had Green Beer and also
had 2 comercial sized Coffee pots ( think 150
cups per pot) going at all times for Coffee Drinks
such as Irish Coffee and Baily's and Coffee.
She also had enough food to feed the entire
Island but that is not why I am here this weekend.
This time of year is also big on the Liquid pleasures
and as anyone who has ever purchased Baily's knows
that stuff costs an arm and a leg.Oh, and another arm.
It tastes like Creamy Chocolate Joy but the price, WOW.


So at out house we made it ourselves and instead
of paying 35 bucks for a Fifth you can take that
same 35 bucks and make close to two gallons.
If you need a smaller quantity just divide the
recipie in 1/2 or 1/4s but we always made
a lot for it is a huge hit.






Baily's






4 Cans of Eagles sweetened condensed milk


4 Cups of Irish Whiskey. It does not matter what
kind you use but remember the better Quality the
Irish Whiskey the smoother your Bailys will taste.




4 Pints heavy Whipping cream


12 Eggs


4 Tablespoons of Herseys Syrup. Again
you can use what ever kind you like but
Herseys just tastes the best and I have
monkeyed around with this recipie many
times.




4 Teaspoons of Vanilla


Place all ingreediants together
and blend! Enjoy! Yes, it is
that easy.






Make sure you store this in the
Refridgerator though with the
dairy and eggs. It also makes
a spectacular Gift on the cheap.
Use Mason Jars or any other
Glass Jar and Tie a ribbon on it
and your friends will love you
to death.

Recipe of the week






With the Holiday's coming up I give you
a simple twist on a classic. Take your Pumpkin
Pie, add some yummy cream cheese and
WaaLaaa, Cream Cheese Pumpkin Pie. This
one is sure to bring a smile to even your Mother-
in Laws face!






CREAM CHEESE PUMPKIN PIE




What you need:


1 small can (15oz) pumpkin pie filling


1 pkg soft (8oz) Philly cream cheese


1 large tub Cool Whip


1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice


2 deep 9" graham cracker pie crusts


(wafer or ginger snap may be substituted)


cinnamon (to sprinkle on top)


Ready Whip (for serving)


Pie pan or you can get ready made crusts in
a pan






I always grab some of those Pumpkin
shaped little candies they have around during
this time of year. They taste like candy corn
but look like pumpkins. I use them to add a
little extra touch when decorating the pie.






Mix pumpkin, cream cheese, and spice in mixer
until well blended. Fold into Cool Whip gently, so
that it stays fluffy. Just don't mix to fast.
Spoon into pie shells. Crust should be well filled.
Cover and refrigerate for 1 -2 hours.






Top with Ready Whip and a light sprinkling of cinnamon
and you can add your little pumpkins for that extra flair.




Will last 2-4 days in the fridge

Recipe of the week


This weeks pick is comfort food to the max. I grew up with it and still make it on a regular basis. I know Bread Pudding started as a way for people to use up stale bread so it doesn't go to waste but it is so goodI have been known to leave a brand new loaf of bread open on the counter just so I would have an excuse to make it. I got this up just in time for the holidays for its a great addition and even the most fussy eater will love it.


Grandma's Bread Pudding


What you need:1 1/2 pounds of bread. I use whatever I have around but the recipe calls for white.


3 cups Milk


5 Eggs


1 cup Sugar


Half tsp Cinnamon


1/2 cup raisin's


1/2 cup Coconut flakes


1/2 tsp Vanilla


butter


large cake pan


Preheat oven to 350


Butter pan


Chop or rip bread into cubes or small pieces and place into buttered pan. Beat eggs and add Sugar, milk, cinnamon. Set aside. Mixed raisin's and Coconut into the bread pieces making sure they are spread around evenly. Add vanilla to egg mixture and make sure it is all well blended. The sugar tends to clump at the bottom and it needs to be mixed in well or it will turn into a caramel clump. Pour over bread mixture. Pan should be just about to the top with fluid.If it isn't add a little more milk for you do not want it to dry out before it is done cooking. Cover loosely with foil. Place in oven for and hour and a half. YUM


you can also sprinkle powdered sugar or make a vanilla cream sauce to pour on top but I always have it with either ice cream or milk.

French Toast with Caramelized Bananas

100 Top Finger Foods
A great Cook Book to add to any Kitchen with Kids!


French Toast
1/4 cup Heavy Cream
3 Tablespoons Milk
2 Eggs
2 or 3 Drops of Vanilla Extract
1 Thick Slice of White Bread ( bakery bread, unsliced)


Banana's
1/2 Tablespoon Butter
1 Tablespoon Sugar
2 Banana's cut into thick slices on the bias ( angle)
Suger to sprinkle

Mix together the cream, milk, eggs and vanilla. Cut the
bread into triangles or sticks and put into small flat dish.
our the mixture on top and let stand 5 minutes.
Turn halfway through to make sure fully coated

Heat up pat of butter in a frying pan and allow to melt.
Put the bread in the pan and fry gently over low heat for
about 5 minutes on each side, to golden brown.

Fry the Bananas: Melt the butter in a small frying pan.
Add the sugar. Add the bananas and fry gently until caramelized.
Let the Bananas cool slightly before serving, as Caramelized
sugar can get very hot. Serve the french toast with the Bananas
and sprinkle with a little sugar.

to put your beer or any other kind of bottled drink in. You can
do water, pop, an IV drip of Margaretta's I need after the last
few weeks. I love the charm of these little guys but the cold hard
facts are they are so functional too!I don't know how many times
I have been walking the dog or the baby or the Husband ( he needs
the walk the most with that Jabba The Gut he is growing) and wished
I had something to drink. I never carry a water bottle for with my
insane 12 pound Jack Russel I need both my hands so this would be
great! Not to mention fairs, parks and so many other places you
need all your limbs! They are hosting a review and a contest

Next is My Baby Rocks! Have you seen their stuff? Love it.
Remember how I told you guys I bought Rowan some Skull and
Cross bone Bibs right before Christmas at an ridiculous price?
Well this store has those cute leather and lace items for
kids but at prices we can live with! They have some of
the darn tooten cutest things I have seen. I love it, there is
just nothing sweeter then seeing a little toddler with clothes
that scream their personality! We have a review and contest
from them and I can't wait!

After that it hit me at Christmas I have not done any reviews
for my favorite child! Well I had to fix that ASAP and Premier
Pets is helping! They are sending something for Boo, my
only good child to review and she was so nice she is putting
together a gift basket for you guys! Now the fur baby's can
get in on the review action!

After them is a time tested favorite of everyone. Burt's Bee's
is hosting a review. Not sure if there is a contest yet but if
they send more then one thing to review I will be more then
happy to share for I know everyone loves the Burt!

Tiny Tag Designs is sending a necklace for review and I love
their items. I am so hooked on the personalization jewelry
now for not only does pieces like that look good they
mean something and all I need is an opening to tell a complete
stranger my entire life story of my children. "Say, that is
a beautiful necklace you are wearing!" Big grin on me! " I know,
I know, isn't it, I got it from Tiny Tag Designs and it is not only
beautiful it has my kids on it and let me tell you................."
I can never remember if it is a good sign or bad sign when
someones eyes glaze over but I am still happy so who cares!

all the way around!

Next is Post Little Tu Tu's and I have been bouncing up and
down all day since I spoke to them! Every Mom in the world
knows how much fun it is to dress a little princess and I have
waited 20 years to do it and her item's (SIGH) to die for! I tell
you if her super spectacular Tu Tu's do not make Rowan look
like the sweetest peach on the tree I will wear it myself to
any public place you guys want! I am feeling pretty confidant
here but I will let you guys vote! I know she is offering a contest
as well so its a double treat!

Next on the list is Damo Momo! I may not have a baby bump
any longer but I can sure appreciate spectacular quality maternity
wear! Organic to boot and soft as a baby's, well you know! They
have fashions for real people they you can really wear, be comfortable
in and look good. Sad to say but that is hard to come by anymore
and they do it fantastically! Love it! Review and contest coming

KORRES was very happy with our last review and
giveaway and want to do it again! I am really excited about
that one for I loved their products and can't wait to see what
is next! These guys are great and have been super kind to
the blog and me personally and hope this is the start of
a long relationship with them for I would love us to be able

After Otter Box I have a review on the way for Expressiva Nursing
Wear. They make everything for Mom's who are nursing and
even if you are not for the clothes are just comfortable. I am
reviewing a pair of PJs for boy do I need some and they
are offering a gift cert for you guys. These are some really nice
outfits and cloths! I can't wait to be comfy as I write the review!

Next we have Bright Starts Toys. These guys are great and I
know it for we already have a bunch of their items. Rowan
loves her activity center and they are sending their new one
out for review. It is funny, with my son all I had was Playschool
and Fisher Price and with Rowan I have not one thing by them
it is all Sassy Toys and Bright Starts I just like them way better!

Another Yummy Food Review too! This time it is Galaxy Granola!
I don't know about you guys but I love Granola. It has got to be
the sweetest snack in the world and better then candy. I have
been hooked for years and can't wait to try theirs for I heard it
is really good. They also are putting together a gift pack for you
guys! YUM
