No Throw, Home Town Hero's for every Mom in the World!

These Ladies are a Review on the home page I am
doing right now for a wonderful product called No
Throw. I loved their product and gave them a fantastic
review but during my research I was even more excited
because they are local and wanted to post it here
as well. I am so impressed with them and as a
part of Metro Detroit we should all be proud
and support them!
You Go Girls!

Rowan is at the age where her all time favorite
game is "Dropsy!" All Mom and Dad's know this one
and just about anyone who has spent a few hours with
a Baby six months or older has seen it in action. For those
of you who were blessed enough to not learn the game I will
explain the rules for you for it is really quiet simple.
1. Baby has toys, food, bottle or any other item that
can keep her attention and is small enough for them
to lift and manage.
2. Baby throws toys over the side of highchair, car seat,
bouncy chair, walker, stroller or swing.
3. Baby screams.
4. Mommy and Dad pick up toy and return to screaming baby
who now breaks into smiles again.
5. Repeat steps one through four for 72 hours straight
or Baby decides she is bored. ( usually on the 71st hour)

The game always starts out with Baby, Mommy and Daddy
smiling and enjoying themselves. At the very beginning Mommy
and Daddy might even encourage the baby to do it again. Now
when I say very beginning I mean the first time played, not the beginning
of every time you play for you will play a lot! Around the tenth time
over the side the Mommy and Daddy stop thinking its so cute.
That time frame may quicken if you add in factors such as a
door bell, telephone or the item going over the side involves
a lot of clean up such as a glass filled with Grape Juice or
a bowl of pureed baby food. The only thing that is consistent
with Dropsy at every house is Mommy and Daddy get tired of
the game long before baby does. You might want to keep rewards
around for "Mommy and Daddy!" to lesson the harsh blow of
reality that they will never win this game. Mommy might like
a glass of wine and Daddy could go for a beer if they manage
to lose gracefully without throwing a temper tantrum.
Most of the time Baby starts the game at home
but sometimes they like to play on the road too. A stroller or
Car seat make a perfect launching point for Dropsy and
Baby knows it! The problem with these two locations for game play
are it can take a 10 minute walk around the block and drag it
out to an hour trek where Mommy and Daddy spend more time
bending over and picking up items then pushing the stroller.
In the car Baby is in the backseat and unless there is a brother
or sister or one of baby's parents sits in the back with her you
would have to pull over the car to play your part in the game and
that is often not possible and even more so very unreasonable
to anyone over the age of 3. Baby of coarse demands "Dropsy"
be continued and will scream at the top of their lungs to they
get their way. The on the road version also offers other
obstacles such as extra needed supplies for the game. Often
the item being dropped is an item Baby normally uses in their
mouths and you need a ready supply of baby wipes for when
Baby's Bottle or Pacifier hit the dirt or other germy areas.
If you do not pack the extra supplies for the road version you
will once again be exposed to screaming baby until you find a
suitable method of washing or sanitizing the object. Rowan
is on week three of "Dropsy and I am already longing for
a good game of Tic Tac Toe. I have picked up her bottle
close to a thousand times now and every time she drops it
she smiles broader and laughs harder so I know the game
is very entertaining for her and thus will last for a long time
to come. I, on the other hand have invested in a vat of Ben Gay to
sooth my aching back from bending over and picking up the same
object over and over. The worst part of the game is in
the car for sometimes during travel she wants to play and drops
her bottle and then she realizes Mommy can't play and she
immediately decides she is hungry instead and now really
needs the bottle back. Again here is where the screaming starts
on babies part. Thank goodness they no longer show those commercials
with the man glued to a beam and the glue being strong enough to
hold him for I would be sitting there holding a bottle of Crazy glue
and eying her up right now.On dab would do and that bottle would
never hit the floor again. Thank the stars above I found No
Throw before I found Superglue!
No throw is an invention from a company called Twinn
Beginnings and is another one of those long over due products
where you smack your self in the head and go "Why Didn't I think
of that?" It is a strap that hooks on to your child's sippy cup
or bottle (I even made it work on Rowans Pacifier) on one
end and whatever she is riding in or sitting in on the other.
You can hook it to the high chair, stroller or car seat and turn
"Dropsy" into a one person game when you just can't play
with Baby. I know for a fact it is saving me money too for it
is only a matter of time before I tap the bumper of another
car while stretching and reaching and trying to retrieve Rowans
bottle to put an end to her screams. My insurance would soar
as high as Rowans Giggles are loud when I fetch yet another
bottle! I also realized Ben gay isn't cheap and neither are any
of the pain relievers I need at the end of the day!
No Throw is not only practical this Mom found it
very valuable and I treat mine with as much love as a 21 year old
single Girl would treat a diamond tennis bracelet. This is
most defiantly one of those "how did I live without this?"
type of products! The two sisters who invented it should
be anointed saints for Yesterday was the first day since Rowan
discovered "Dropsy" that I could set her in her high chair and
eat my own dinner without bending over 30 zillion times to
fetch her toys. No Throw comes in 16 different designs, some
for boys some for girls or unisex and not only are a "Must have"
for any house with a small child they would make a perfect
gift. Next time you play "Dropsy" with your child make sure
you come out the winner!

Look what is going on now!

Birmingham has so much going on
right now. Where downtown Royal Oak
centers it's focus on Restaurant's and Night
Life, Downtown Birmingham seems to have
its focus on Shopping and specialty stores.
This makes Christmas shopping there a
blast and I look forward to it every year.

They really do up the whole city
and the downtown is just like
walking into a charming escape
from reality all during the month
of December. The Stores are just
the base of entertainment
for you can also take a
Carriage ride and instead of line
at the mall where the kids get bored
and antsy you can visit Santa's
House at Shain Park from 6-8
PM.

The Historical Museum has
all sort of things for your tots
to do and on December 10th
and 17th many of the towns
Merchants are hosting
giveaways. They are giving out
free prizes and gifts right out on the
streets where you can
walk away with loot worthy
of a Rock Star!

It is also one of the last vestige's
around where you can listen to
some real Carolers! Birmingham
is a great destination to go to
any time of the year and offers
some landmark Metro Detroit
Locations like Peabody's but
during the Holidays it just
is off the charts!

Make sure to mark it on
your list as a Must Stop
Event. Your kids will love
you for it and you might
walk away with some
Plane tickets or other
goodies!

The Adult Toy Shoppe Review and Contest!

John is just inept when it comes to
a massage. There is never the right pressure for
he thinks he is going to hurt me. No matter how
much I reassure him it stays the same. It has
gotten to the point where I don't even bother to
ask anymore for whats the point? If you don't
enjoy something I am not one to go through the
motions. It is a shame too for a simple body
massage almost always leads to a whole different
scenario and it is a great way to break the ice
and relax one another.
There is nothing that makes me feel
more amorous then a full body massage that
leaves me feeling like Jello and so relaxed I
can feel it in my bones. After a hard day of
baby rearing and housework and even when
I was working out of the house I really need
that break. I did buy one of those chairs that
has the vibrating balls that roll up and down
the back and I have to admit that the pressure
is right there but I walk away feeling like I
was molested by a piece of furniture.
When the Adult toy shop asked if
I would do a review for them I jumped at the
chance to try their Kama Sutra Line. I don't know
if you are familiar with the line but they have everything
from oils to Honey Dust to body paints and Pleasure
balm. Everything about Kama Sutra is for helping
you relax and enjoy the moment. Kama Sutra itself
is an old Hindi word that means love manual and
they believed that the act of making love is one of
the three aims of life right along with Virtue and
Prosperity. Love is supposed to be something you
are relaxed about and enjoy.
There are also other benefits to massage,
such as it promotes healing, boosts your immune
system, helps with circulation and even used for
Depression and Anxiety. I have lower back pain that
is a killer and there is nothing better then a good
massage to ease the pain and tension that lives in
my muscles. It is even used to help pre-term infants
gain weight and provide a sense of well-being
to your baby. What could be better?
When the kit came yesterday I had to drag
John into it kicking and screaming. He knows
he gives a lousy massage and though I never tell
him he needs a lot of work in that department
I am sure he is aware that being afraid of doing
something just increases the odds you don't do
it very well. By the time I cornered him and slammed
the massage oil kit on the counter he knew I meant
business. I did him first and by the time I was finished
he was relaxed enough to give it the old collage try.
The oil made it much easier for John for his hands
glided over my back and soon how much pressure
he was applying was forgotten and he he enjoyed
giving the massage. The aroma of the oil itself
is relaxing and add some soft music and a candle
and before long you could not even tell this was
a man who quiet possibly gave the worst back
massage in the history of man. Now he was a
professional.

The kit I received contains 5 two oz bottles
of different scents. There was Almond, Serenity,
Pleasure Garden, Soaring Spirit and Healing Blend.
Each oil is infused with natural essential oils,
skin-smoothing emollients and nourishing Vitamin E.
Let me tell you we enjoyed each and everyone!
The Adult Toy Shoppe has more then just massage
oils on their site and their name pretty much describes
it all! If you are looking for a little added spice
or the full out VA VA VOOM, these guys have it all.
From the Kama Sutra line in love sets they also have
Gifts from the Sea and the Weekender. I also have to
say for some added romance in your life they have
a Bed of Roses Kit that I thought would be perfect
for Valentines day. They have more items then
I can describe and this is a site you want to
browse through with your partner. You never
know what you might find!

To get you started on your path The Adult
Toy Shoppe is going to give one of you guys
A Kama Sutra Massage Oil set too. To enter
just go to the site and check out their items
and come back here and tell me what massage
oil or body butter you like best? The contest
will start today, December 15th and run to January

for Valentines Day. ( Hint Hint)

Just for Mom and Dad

Anyone who is bestowed the title
"Mom or Dad" knows that with that
honor you have to relinquish your
rights to personal time.

Forget wandering through the mall
in search of the perfect shoe. You now
have 15 minutes to find a shoe that fits
good and doesn't mind the occasional
coating of Apple Sauce or Grape Juice!
Forget Thursday night bowling with the
guys. The only strike Dad now sees is
the strike his 12 year old daughter goes
on when she wants a raise in her
allowance.

Tender, Romantic, Moonlit walks on
the Beach while holding hands?

Right!

That one is still available, sorta. It's
only now described as Dad shaking the
sand out of the 2 year olds shoes while
Mom tenderly pyre's the sucker out of his
hair the 5 year old left for safe keeping
and the 10 year old flicks the light on and
off as fast as he can to see if things really
do move in slow motion.

Mom and Dad spending hours in bed
remembering why they fell in love in the
first place?

Forget about it!

I might be able to pencil you in for
five minutes in June of 2011. Mom's
and Dad's know you have to take it when
you can get it and that isn't very often.
You better make it good!

Toy Demon feels your plight and they
think they can help!

For my readers they are offering
a $50.00 Gift Certificate for their web
store. If you just need a little help or you
need a dump truck to pull up to your back
door and dump off a mountain full of help
they have you covered. They have a wide variety
of adult items to help even the most harried
Mom and Dad unleash their inner "Demons."
From the novice to the "Oh, so experienced",
Toy Demon offers a large selection of adult
playtime enhancers to allow you to make the
most of your cherished alone time.

There is no discrimination at their store
for there are items for just Mom, Just Dad
or Help we only have five minutes before
the Kids get home!

So next time you find yourselves alone
stop on over to their site to check out some
items to unleash your inner "Demon's" while
your little Devil is away. With their discrete
packaging your neighbors will never know.

To enter just take a stroll over to their site
and look around then come back and let me
know when was the last time your and your
significant other had a Romantic dinner
together. The contest will start today, December
2nd and run to December 27th at midnight.
USA and 18 and older can enter daily and the winner
will be contacted by email and have 72 hours to

The Importance of Touch

DON"T FORGET TO ENTER THE TOY DEMON CONTEST

I grew up in a highly religious and
very strict house . Part of that mindset
is no touching. Our house was a very "hands
off house", right down the the separate twin
beds my Grandparents slept in. What this led
to with me is I am a person who needs lots of
personal space and feel crowded and uncomfortable
with the "touchers!"

I also had the sense enough to understand
the too little touching is just as unhealthy as
too much touching and knew I could not raise
my child to be the same way as me. With
family dynamics like that people have to
work hard to change the mindset and make
an everyday conscience effort. Everyday
I made sure to tell me son Loved him and
give him at least one hug. I know these sound
like everyday things and should come Natural
but they are only natural if that is the way you
were raised and was not so for me it was work.

16 years later I can proudly say he
is fine with Physical contact though I still struggle.
The funny part now is even though he is not an
"Over -Toucher" he can still make me uncomfortable
at times and leave me feeling crowded. Now that
I have a new daughter I have to start the process
over again and wanted to do some research
to verify if the feeling I had that such a hands-off
approach to raising kids really was unhealthy.
Here is what I found.

People who grow up in environments without
touching are less compassionate. Things do
not affect people that grow up this was as
they would other people. A simple shoulder
squeeze displays a connection that when
with held does not allow the person to
emphasize with other people.

They are also more emotionally
Isolate. When you grow up in a world
like that you tend to keep not only
your body parts but your feelings to
yourself.

People that grow up without
basic physical contact end up having
a hard time later in life distinguishing
the difference between appropriate
contact and in- appropriate. This can
leave them open to molestation or
other forms of abuse.

Last of all it can leave them emotionally
stunted. How can you grow as a person
when you do not experience the full
spectrum of feelings? Stoicism is not
the only feeling out there and people
who feel the need to segregate themselves
will often stop their emotional growth at
that phase and not move past it.

Studies have shown that even Babies
react to peoples expressions and posturing
and this tells us that a comfort level with
ones own self starts at an early age. I had
to try this one out myself and both my son
and I saw Rowan in her high chair and made
frowning faces. Soon she was ready to cry
so we started smiling. Giggles abound.
Rowan can already read our moods and
models hers after the people who care
for her. There for it is very important not
to swing the pendulum to far in either way.
To teach your child what is appropriate
touching or not start early. When she needs
comfort, hug them and smile. Let them know
comfort comes with Love. If you are a person
who has children and a hard time with physical
contact make sure that when they get older
to explain the difference between correct contact
and inappropriate. Don't assume they "know"
because you do.

Try to give your older Children pats
on the back or a shoulder squeeze. They
may squirm and wriggle away but they
subconsciously get the message you care
about them. Let your loved one or Significant
other know your boundaries but try to
entertain theirs as well. Give them a massage
once in a while or practice other forms of
intimacy outside your comfort level to let
them know you are working on increasing
yours if they scale back theirs a little.
Verbal communication does wonders as
well for people tend to believe it is them
when you shrug away or tense up when
they embrace you. All in all know
your boundaries but don't cement them
in stone, teach your children to be
more then you are and make sure to
include you partner in your comfort zone.
After all you will be together a life time,
develop healthy habits now!

Hey Guys, not all contests are created the
same and not all products are meant for the whole family. Sometimes Mom and Dad
need a contest just for them. Mom and Dad time also means no kids allowed time so make sure to check out the new section and the contest there just for Parents!

Mom and Dad's only is not an X rated area
but just in case it touches on R rated here and
there I wanted to make sure it has a click here
option and it isn't what you see when you first
come to the site. This will also include any
R rated movie reviews so the regular movie
link will always be "Kid Friendly" and safe
for the whole family
