LAND OF THE LOST ON DVD
Will Ferrel stars as an eccentric, over the top
discredited scientist Rick Marshal who has hit
rock bottom when a research assistant Holly,
( Played by Anna Friel ) offers him a ray of
hope by providing evidence his theory's and
unfinished invention work. Talked into
testing his theory they find themselves in the
company of a quirky tourist trap owner Will
(Played by Danny McBride) who takes them
on a tour that ends up out of this world.
The movie it cute, I am not speaking
award cute or even watch with the whole
family cute, just the run of the mill shrug
your shoulders on the way out the door
cute. Ferrel plays his usual off beat,
egocentric role as he blunders through
an array of mishaps that are better solved
by his straight man McBride. Whenever
Ferrel says he is right by the third time
he says it you know he is wrong.
I did have some laugh out loud moments
though where I really did stop, and laugh
OUT LOUD, but it wasn't because it was
so hysterical I couldn't help myself it was
more that it was so cliche or expected you
couldn't help but to let out an "Ah Ha"
laugh at your own genius.
I don't think the movie is as bad as
some of the reviews I have read on it
but I am glad I only spent a couple of
bucks at the video store since if I
would have spent the small fortune
they now charge at a theater I would have
been mad. This is also not a movie for
small children as the previews lead you
to believe. There are no Disney Standards
here and it more like a throw back to
sex jokes before movies actually let
you show nudity. Chaka is obsessed
with breasts and silly junk like that.
Small kids might not notice it but I
wouldn't want to take the chance.
Speaking of kids though, my son
loved it. He is 16 and slap stick, too
silly to really be funny humor is his thing
what can I say! I was upstairs when
he viewed and could hear him laugh
through the whole thing. I think that was part
of the reason I was disappointed was by
listening to him enjoy it I expected more.
My advise is Rent don't Buy
My rating is~it is better then a poke in the
eye with a sharp stick but not as good as a stale donut.
